What's the secret for getting your clothes out of the dryer at the right time so that you don't need to iron them please ?

I find it really only works for 'non iron' polycotton shirts - small load, on whatever is the recommended setting (mine helpfully has 'shirt' Grin) and take out as soon as you remember possible once they're done (if your machine has an alarm use it) and hang immediately. This gets DDs school shirts 'good enough'

Oh arse. I thought a tumble dryer would be the answer to my slatternly prayers.

:o at the setting 'shirt'.

I have used a tumble dryer for years and find the only things I need to iron are cotton fabrics. I use tumble dryer sheets (any make) and if you take out and fold the clothes as soon as the dryer stops there shouldn't be a problem. Let me know if this works for you.

that's my problem, most of our clothes are cotton! Polycotton and tumble-able synthetics are fine (eg DDs school jumpers).

Even the cotton Ts etc are easier to iron after tumbling though, to be fair.

Ours works for most things except large table clothes & linen etc.
Shake things out before putting them in TD so they aren't all tangled up, don't overfill, set timer to ping at you when they are almost completely dry (you know that point when you are in two minds as to whether to put them in for a few more mins or not IYKWIM) shake, hang and let completely dry. Works for DH's thick cotton work shirts which is the main thing he wants to avoid ironing.

I iron nothing.

The secret is not putting too much in the tumble dryer, and always having at least 10 minutes 'cool' at the end, to relax any creases.

Remove shirts immediately, shake, smooth and hang; remove t-shirts quickly and smooth and fold and smooth again (and then hang if required); and just fold and smooth down everything else.

It helps to have a very clean kitchen table to do the smoothy-foldy stuff on. Smile

I still think most stuff needs ironing anyway. What does seem to make a difference is how fast a spin speed you use. If you go for a high one that gets the clothes drier from the washer they are much more creased when you put them in the drier. Also, they are less creased if you don't fill either machine to capacity, but I always have too much laundry on the go to do this.

Thanks all for the tips. I have since spied a 'low iron' setting on mine (disclaimer: I am very sleep deprived at the moment so spot nothing!).
