Have broken glass shelf in fridge..where can I get a replacement?

I stupidly dropped the tomato ketchup from the top shelf of the fridge, slipped out of my hands, and smashed the glass shelf on the bottom. Is there a chance I can get a replacement fairly cheap (not from manufacturer)?

Has this happened to anyone else ? any experience of this?

:( this is something I would do.

I have had a look and there are quite a few on eBay. Of course it depends on your model. However, usually manufacturers produce more than one brand (e.g. Electrolux, AEG and Zannussi are all the same manufacturer) so what fits one may fit yours.

Here is what I found:

www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=glass+fridge+shelf&_sacat=0

Thanks :)

I bought a generic one from amazon that fitted my fridge type. It was fairly cheap and arrived quickly.

I've used this company a couple of times
espares

thanks everyone for the suggestions. Have just been given advice on another forum too, one suggestion being going to a local glaziers and getting one custom made (one poster was quoted £7).

Ring the manufacturer - mine is Miele and they sent me new shelves for a few pounds each.

Also used eSpares and they are good. The replacement plastic flappy thing for the top freezer compartment wasn't exactly the same style as the old one, but it fitted the model.

I went to a local glasscutter and he made me one.
For about 20 GBP, took 2 days, could order over phone. Perfect.

DonaAna we're nipping into town tomorrow to visit a glaziers and will give the dimensions so it can be cut to size. I don't fancy going online to order something like this.

glass merchants can easily cut to size, but they don't usually smooth off the edges, which you will want as they will be very sharp. Phone to ask if they can do that before making a trip.

It is possible to smooth the edges yourself, but very easy to get cut while doing it.

Going to be in the area anyway, so it's not any bother :) We have the plastic edging still to go around if there are sharp edges but will enquire about that tomorrow, thanks for mentioning that pigletjohn :)

Update - yesterday we turned up at the glaziers to be told that the guy cuts glass shelves for fridges on a regular basis, very common job for him apparently as it happens to so many people! It cost £12.50 (incl VAT) and was done in 20 mins. Not a rough edge in sight! Wink
