Does anyone have a washer-dryer they actually like?

We inherited one with our house. It's crap. It's an Indesit and takes an aaaaage. The quickest wash option takes an hour, the dryer only works if there's about 5 things in there so most of the wash has to come out at that point, and even then it takes about two hours. The real killer is that we have a perfectly good washer and separate dryer in the shed that don't fit in the kitchen.

I reckon we could
A) take out the combi, put our washer in and get used to no dryer (but I love my dryer and we have a baby so shed loads of washing)
B) take out the combi and replace it with a good combi (if such a thing exists)
C) learn to love the Indesit (unlikely)

Any ideas? I think option B is my preference but I don't want to send gazillions and it seems the good ones are very spendy :(

We were going to get an indesit one a few years back and luckily then had one in a holiday cottage for a week. It was rubbish at drying even with just 1 thing in it. We have a Bosch one, and it is fine for drying a half load (duvet covers or an emergency school shirt for e.g.) but really I don't think most washer-dryers are really any good for using after every wash. We air dry most of our things, so not a problem for us. If you discover an amazing one let us know!!

Had an AEG years ago and hated it. Thought they might have moved on but this thread doesn't give me much hope. I now have a fantastic AEG washing machine and an el cheapo tumble drier in the garage for the odd times I need it.

We've got a 10kg Hoover. I love it. There's a quick (14min) wash which is great for washing the kids summer dresses for school in the evening as well as the longer washes which can take an enormous load. I can't seem to get the tumble dryer to work straight after the washing load which is a bit annoying (we use to have a Zanussi that did).

I dont think such a thing exist, I have a neff wd, the washing is very good the dryer is shite, takes forever damp patches, washing gets really tangled & creased hate it, am now seriously thinking of, having an extenstion just so I can have, separate appliances.

manorcfox66 · 10/01/2017 21:20

Do not buy Hoover I have spent nearly £400 on a WDXC4851that never really worked properly from 3 months old had two appointments that the engineers never turned up and then two others that did not know what was wrong.I made a complaint to Hoover but nothing not any recognition of what they have done or how they are going to proceed in getting my machine fixed. The machine has cost me double so far as two days of work and then two half days and then if I have to take another day off it just is frightening that customer services for Hoover a well known brand can act this way DO NOT BUY HOOVER.

Onetwothreego · 28/04/2017 22:19

Sorry I disagree with you manorcfox 66 ive had my Hoover WDYN 9646G sensor dry washer dryer for just over 4 years no problems at all just had brushes replaced after the 4 years and the button replaced which got stuck so must be just your machine as ours has been brilliant couldn't fault it

DevilWearsPrimark · 28/04/2017 22:34

I have the same model as ecuse and agree it's very good! As long as the drier isn't over full.

Also, I use the air refresh with a drier sheet to freshen up dry clean only coats etc. Or sofa throws if people are coming over.

I had a somehow for years which I loved. When it died I decided to economise and bought an indesit. I cannot describe in words how much I hate the fucker. Worst of all I took extended warranty so I'm stuck with it for at least another two years.

I fucking hate it. Piece of shit.

Before the smog I had a zanussi it was ok.

RJnomore1 · 28/04/2017 22:54

Oh and the shitting indiset was on the which top ten. Which I paid for a months membership to view.

Wow, this is the thread that will not die...
We have a John Lewis one which I don't dislike, but separate machines will always be better. Get the extended warranty too- they break down a lot. JL, to be fair, are excellent at coming out and sorting it asap.

It's really informative to see what people have posted on here.. Has anyone moved their washer dryer upstairs? We have the world's tiniest kitchen and want to make space by moving washer into upstairs airing cupboard. Son is now potty training so we're now doing tons more laundry (wet bed sheets!) and were hoping to splurge and get washer dryer combo. Am happy to spend quite a bit but only if it's worth it, so really want to reach out for advice from real people! All comments appreciated! Halo

Just give Hotpoint a miss! Really regret buying Hotpoint washer/dryer two years ago. House flooded 6th March, two engineers have been out, washer dryer still leaking. No response from tech support or claims team! Left stranded. Exceptionally poor communication.Seven weeks following the leak caused by a Hotpoint engineer we have a have a home that has been completely disrupted, water damaged and uncomfortable. No update on investigation due to be completed 28 days ago. Another email submitted yesterday hoping. HotpointUK have responded saying they can't help as claims are a separate department!

I am quite conscious I have posted on this before but promise I an not a bot. I 💕💕 my Siemens washer dryer. There is a good choice of wash programmes and two drying heats (slightly damp and cupboard dry). I don’t tumble dry everything, mainly for environmental reasons. It’s a condenser dryer so doesn’t need an extra vent.

Has anyone moved their washer dryer upstairs?

It would make life a lot easier wouldn’t it, given that we are all dragging bedclothes downstairs and then bringing them back. I read that the main barrier is the weight of washing machines on the ceiling. They have concrete blocks to keep the drum stable when the machine spins. I think they have been trying to find lighter alternatives but I don’t know if the experiments have come to anything yet.
