Getting new bathroom fitted, how to stay on top of limescale?

I live in very hard water area and have enormous limescale build up around taps, shower head etc. Getting a new bathroom next month - very excited :)

How do I prevent a build up, preferably without using harsh chemicals on daily basis ( don't mind using them once in a while)

Would spraying with vinegar do the job?

TIA

Vinegar will shift it.

My MIL uses ecloths daily as well - and a squeegy on that bath shower immediately after use.

best way I know - really - buy a water softener (the sort you put salt in)

your plumber will probably know a local supplier. In hard water areas there are local companies that sell, service and repair them, and deliver salt. This will be better than buying mail-order or from a DIY shed as you are more likely to get it mended if it goes wrong.

Thank you, I haven't considered water softener, will definitely look into it.

I think if you wipe over affected areas with an e cloth daily after use, this should dramatically reduce the build up of limescale ( and other nasties!)

Clean it once a week with a cleaning product that claims to remove limescale. Use an old toothbrush to go round the taps etc where limescale tends to build up.

I second getting a water softner. Life is now bliss. I even have a black kitchen sink and not a sniff of lime scale anywhere.

The shower looks better after 4 weeks of not being cleaned than it did in 3 days normally despite blading the glass down after every use.

Use Limelite, spray is ok for a quick going over, but the gel is best for any really bad areas. Use Shower Shine after EVERY shower. Buy whichever is on offer, sainsburys, Tesco, Mr Muscle.

Use vinegar regularly for cleaning it works a treat and prevents limescale from building up. My husband is a plumber and often cleans limescale off taps by soaking in vinegar when he's revamping a bathroom for a customer. They usually think he's bought new taps as they come out looking so good.
