Which oven, dual fuel, gas or electric?

Ok, so we have nearly finished our kitchen and need/want a new oven. At the moment we have gas but are open to all options within our £800 budget.

Anyone got any words of wisdom to help me choose? At the moment I like this one www.bootskitchenappliances.com/product/CM101FRKP-Leisure-Dual-Fuel-Range-Cooker-Black-14446.aspx?productid1=CM101FRKP_BK&channel=googleshopping&cm_mmc=Froogle--FS%20range-cookers--Leisure-_-CM101FRKP_BK and www.leisurecp.co.uk/range_cookers_100cm/100cm_range_cookers/cuisine_master_rcm10cr

I prefer a gas hob with an electric oven. That oven looks good.

second dex.

Most people buy a hob the same as their mum used when they were growing up, but I'm sure a gas hob and electric fan oven is the best combination.

However a gas oven seems to put a better skin on a rice pudding.

In the "Which" test, Rangermaster and Stoves did very well, but are more expensive. The Leisure CM101 was a best buy.

Gas hob definitely, but I like to bake so prefer a gas oven as well. Also, I like that you get different temperature zones in a gas oven. I realise that I am in a minority though.

If I had my choice I'd have a gas hob and electric oven.

Thanks for the which info, like I say we have only just started looking properly.

Is it bad that the lazy part of me thinks a electric top is easier to clean? Am I wrong?

I've asked the family and Nan, MIL and Aunt IL all have electric set ups and rave about them.

I've had electric and gas and am not surf ive ever noticed much difference to be honest.

Thanks for all the advice so far Smile

What kind of hobs are they? Induction hobs are as responsive as gas. Other ones aren't and are a right PITA.

spills don't burn onto a gas hob, they lie in a sort of basin until you mop them up.

The flame comes on/turns up/turns down/turns off immediately with no warm up. And you can see it.

A large electric cooker with electric hob will need an extra-big electric circuit and maybe 10mm cable. It might overload your main fuse if you have an old house and/or an electric shower in use at the same time.

But you will probably prefer whatever your mum had when you were little.
