How to claen & store charity shop lego

So I got a great haul of charity shop lego, but it's really quite dirty - old grime/dust/biro marks...

I considered putting it in the dishwasher but the small pices will fill up with water and it will just be too fiddly so what do you reckon? Maybe put it in a bleach solution?

Also I would like a sort of compartmentalised (is that a word?!) box to store the different pieces in (so a compartment for windows, one for roof tiles etc), any ideas or links please?

i have always put it in a pillowcase, tied a knot to seal it and chucked it in the washing machine on a 30 deg cycle and the lay it out on a towel to dry, simples :)

I have always successfully put it in the dishwasher (small bits in cutlery rack) on sterilisation cycle and then let it further dry thinly spread out on towels. Never had any problems and at one stage I did it weekly. Smile

Sorting Lego is madness, when we were kids we just kept it all loose in a huge old Pampers box and it was fine!

Milton is fairly gentle though. You can use it on babies' bottles and not rinse them, which I wouldn't want to try with Domestos!
