I rent a house from a family member. It's looking likely that I'll be here for quite some time and I'd like to re-do the kitchen.

My landlady is happy for me to change things and we'll each contribute to the cost of it.

I know what I'd like to get the most out of the space available but not sure where to look to get the most affordable price.

The most important thing for me is to get as much storage space as possible rather than what the actual doors look like (although, it needs to be hardwearing as LL isn't likely to want to replace it again in her lifetime Grin). Current kitchen has been in for at least 20 years!!

Any recommendations for websites to look at?

You could play around with the IKEA kitchen planner, I've been shopping around and they seem like the best value for money. You'll have to measure all your dimensions but it's pretty easy to do.

B&Q have one too.

Both of these will give you a price at the end.

Thanks, I've just spent an hour looking at ikea!

My BIL (who I had originally thought would fit it) put me off ikea kitchens because he said they were a pita to fit but he won't be fitting it so ikea are back in the running Grin.

I know pretty much what I want and am not all that fussy about the style of doors etc but am finding it hard to get an idea of cost. I now have a rough idea from the ikea site so will see what my LL thinks!

If it's got to last I wouldn't go for IKEA. Our is was a pain to fit and at 7 years is looking distinctly shabby, drawers a bit saggy, cupboard edges rubbing etc. Not complaining for the price but I wouldn't recommend it for long term.

We have a kitchen from Howdens but I really love the Ikea ones. I love all their internal storage solutions and think that the 10 year warranty is really good.

Our builder wouldn't fit IKEA so we have a howdens one instead which is fine. I went for pull out doo daa's for all the lower cabinets as I HATE rumaging around in cupboards trying to find all manner of things that get lost and eventually out of date. I don;t have that anymore - yihoo!

I didn't have enough space for a tall pull out larder or the under sink storage sorter bin things so you don't have to have a bin on the floor.

We have a Wickes kitchen which I think is good quality and has soft close etc as standard. We also have the same design in the utility, but from Howdens. The cupboards are a bit thinner (apparently!) and don't have soft close, but they are nowhere near as expensive and come ready assembled.
