grubby sofa arms

Gaah! Had post all typed out then it was wiped in a mn technical arseup.

In brief - two stone coloured chenille sofas, have washed the cushion covers, look fab and like new. The sofa arms are really grubby though so any (non antimaccassar) ideas or recommendations for cleaning that won't wet the arms right through?

Thanks.

Carpet shampoo?
Steam cleaner?
Light sponging might do the trick on a warm dry day, then leave the windows open to air dry the fabric.
Hoovering the sofa arms once a week should keep them looking nice.

Watching with interest. Have the same problem here....

BettyTurnip · 21/06/2012 14:53

Thanks for suggestions - might be waiting a while for a warm, dry day!

Has anyone tried JML Miracle Dry Foam? Reviews seem really mixed.

Rug doctor with upholstery attachment should bring them up lovely and clean.

Is Rug Doctor one of those machines for hire? Off to Google, thanks.

I made little covers for mine, I take 'em off if anyone comes round as they are v ugly and crap Blush but they do help prevent grubbiness.

Grin at the thought of you dashing round
whipping off covers in a panic when an unexpected visitor drops by.
