Miele cat and dog

Hi I was following a diffferent thread and everyone rated about the Miele cat and dog.
In the past I have had Dysons and I am now on a Henry, which I hate. It doesnt seem to work on carpet, and i have just got all new. So I am after a new hoover. I love having a nozzle, but think an upright will work more effectively than dragging it around all the time.

With the Miele cat and dog, how do you get into the edges, with the Dyson I would hoover the room then use the nozzle to get in all the edges, I cant imagine just doing the floor and not the edges ?

Do you rate it then ? Will I see a massive difference if I get one, over a Dyson?

sorry, the cost of the bags, I believe the actual hoover is £219.

I have the Miele cat and dog upright (red) - although it is great, it is really quite heavy to push around and always end up using my other cylinder vacuum (also miele) which is much easier. The cat and dog attachment is great though and does work well.

purple15 · 20/06/2012 19:23

Are they alot heavier than a dyson?

I haven't used a dyson so I'm not sure. The other problem I have with it is that it is hopeless on stairs - you can't carry it up and balance...and the tube is a bit short so when using the attachments to do corners/ furniture etc. I usually end up pulling it over! If I were buying again I would buy the cat and dog cylinder rather than the upright:)

I have the Miele cat and dog cylinder and two hairy labs and it is great. Def recommend.

purple15 · 20/06/2012 19:55

Right, which one then cylinder or upright?

I have a Miele cylinder and have had it for about 4 years -prior to that had a Dyson which I found heavy and cumbersome.

Although the Miele has bags I find it much easier and cleaner to just wip a bag in and out rather than shake the Dyson holder in the bin and get a back wind of dust !

I have a dog but dont have the Meile cat and dog have next one down . When I brought mine they were rated highly with Which Magazine.

Far easier to clean stairs with - or rather my DSs clean the stairs !

alwaysme · 20/06/2012 22:55

I've a Miele cylinder and upright. If I could only have one it would be the cylinder, it is easier to use, not so heavy and good on stairs.

The upright is a brilliant hoover but very heavy, especially pulling it back towards you. It is also harder to use in a more cluttered (with furniture) room. Would be far easier in big spaces.

I have two very hairy cats and a dog. Both hoovers brilliant at picking up the hairs.

alwaysme · 20/06/2012 22:57

Oh, and the upright miele is heavier than an upright dyson !

DukeHumfrey · 22/06/2012 05:25

Or you could spend a far smaller amount and get one of the better attachments for the Henry.
I have the red one with a brush that whizzes round and it is LOADS better, just great: picks up pet hair, my hair and everything else the original black attachment doesn't. I got it when pissed off with poor pick-up but unwilling to spend hundreds on a bloody hoover.

DukeHumfrey · 22/06/2012 07:50

www.henryvacs.co.uk/acatalog/Airo_Brush_Red.html is what I mean.

purple15 · 22/06/2012 11:42

Oh that looks quite good. Ive just been showing my husband the nozzle has been used that much its a little misshaped. I will definately look into that. Money doesnt seem to be going nowhere at the moment, so if I can get away from not paying £200 that would be great.

On our Henry.

I love my Cat and Dog. We've also had Dysons and Henrys but this beats them hands down.

I've only had it a couple of months but my carpets have never looked so good.

I got mine from eBay, it was brand new from a shop on there and was only £160 Inc postage :)

Lillyofthevalley · 24/06/2012 11:06

We have the Miele cat and dog cylinder, best Hoover I have ever owned - had an upright and a cylinder dyson before.

Our cleaner (who is very experienced) only just said the other day that it is the best Hoover she has ever used, much better then her Henry! Our previous cleaner used her own Hoover which was a dyson. Our carpets are cream and our hall carpet never looked great after she had cleaned them with the dyson, now with the Miele it looks like new again!

Mrsfred · 24/06/2012 11:14

The cylinder version also comes with separate heads; a standard head for hard floors and carpet, one with a revolving brush that lifts hair and a turbo-nutter small one which is brilliant for getting dog hairs out of the boot of the car Grin

I previously had a Dyson, but the Miele wins hands down.
