Where can I buy a strong big hanging clothes drier like a sock drier but bigger?

Delurking for my 1st ever post.

I did have one from Lakeland, it was a rectangle with 20 hanging pegs in 4 rows. I could hang 16 items of childrens clothes like trousers and tops using the pegs in pairs so there were 8 items in each row. It cost about £16. It was great while it lasted (about 4 years) but now its broken. I have 3 dc, (two in washable nappies) and I desperately need a replacement (s). Maybe about 3 of something similar but Lakeland don't sell them anymore.

I don't want anything cheap and plasticy as they don't last 5 minutes. It has to be a hanging thing as I hang things over our stair well from a long bar. I'm not after one of those long several bar hangers that you winch up and down.

Any ideas?

Do you mean this sort of thing ?

congratulations on your first post Grin

i have an octopus thing from Ikea, size of a butternut squash with 8 legs each with 2 pegs on. It has been very sturdy and only a £5 or so.

Mines been going for years now.

I sent back my Lakeland one as it kept falling apart!
I now have Ikea ones and 3 Poundland ones. All are strong enough to hang clothes across 2 pegs (and I can grab them fast from the line when it starts to rain!)
Honestly, Poundland is your friend :). Or Wilkinson if that's nearer.

Thanks, yes like that Jareth but much stronger and if possible bigger. I've had lots of the wilco/poundland types and they just fall apart. I've not tried the ikea ones and we don't have one near here. I think what I want is something a bit more indestructable. Maybe made of metal. I think the plastic ones degrade in the sun as they get left out all day sometimes.

I love my IKEA octopus, but within a couple of months around 6 of the pegs don't work.

Maybe the ideal thing doesn't exist? I wondered what happens in bigger laundries? Tumble driers? Gap in the market for someone.

You liked your lakeland one ??? I still have mine but much prefer the ones from Ikea, although they are a pain when the clips stop working. I would just get the cheap ikea ones and replace as needed.

JsOtherHalf · 24/06/2012 22:35

The matalan comes with fixings to attach it to the central pole of a rotary dryer too. I hook them through these on my line www.lakeland.co.uk/8829/12-Hook-ups

I like the lakeland one homeaway because I can use the double pegs in rows to hang 16 nappies, 2 pegs each. You cant do that with an ikea octopus. I like the clothes suspended between 2 pegs. I've seen an octopus in a local garden, its not the right size or shape. I'm drying up to 60 nappies a week. The matalan one has just arrived. So far I like it, its the right shape and looks strong. I'd still like something else tho.

Probably not at all the sort of thing you are after but I just bought THIS - (although I actaully got mine for £14.99 from Lidl!
I've found it great so far! holds 2 loads of (adult sized clothes) washing so would probably fit 3 loads if it was just kids stuff.
I put it out in the garden or leave it in the hallway/spare room if its not outdoor drying weather!
Folds away flat so I keep it in the understairs cupboard or spare bedroom wardrobe when I'm not using it!
My only issue is that my puppy has taken a huge dislike to the wheels on it for some strange reason and barks like mad whenever I try and wheel it around! Confused

If you live in Edinburgh you probable have one of these,

Marvellous things, if you put wet jeans on them, they are dry in a couple of hours, no need for tumble driers.

Sorry, it needs to be a hanging from the ceiling thing. (I cant have airers stood about) and not one of the long bar pulley things. Matalan looking good so far.
