Oak furniture - how to keep clean?

We've got some lovely real oak furniture in our living room but I find it tricky to dust. Its not absolutely smooth so if I go over it with a duster then tiny bits of fluff get stuck in the rough bits. So I went over it today with a dry cloth but that didnt seem any better.

I'm sure its a daft idea to use a slightly damp cloth? Any ideas??

We had the same issue when our furniture was new... It stops being a problem the more you clean it.

In the meantimes you could buy polish that's already on wipes (you know a bit like antibacterial wipes but with polish on?).

Thats a good idea - i'm not in the UK but will have a look out for them. Thanks.

I have lovely oak furniture:) get a muslin cloth and wring it out to almost dry. Wipe the dust off. Once every two weeks polish with beeswax. Do not get busy with normal polish, it will wreck it:)

I was told to do this by an antique dealer so I font think you are daft:)

I use a damp e-cloth, and it works well.

E-cloths are good, as is beeswax spray polish. Avoid silicon polish like the plague (eg Pledge, Mr Sheen).

Thanks for those suggestions - not sure whether we have beeswax at home but will have a look. Hadnt sprayed polish on it yet so wont start now. Thankfully its such pale oak that it doesnt show the dust Blush but I know its there and i'm sure my MIL would notice if I leave it too long. Wink
