That Lakeland Oven Cleaner and self-clean ovens - risky?

So - invested in some of the wonder stuff, only to work out (slooowly) that it can't be used on self clean ovens. Apparently my oven has self-clean stuff on the side walls, ceiling and back. So presumably not the floor.

Would you use it on the oven floor? Or will the wonder-fumes damage the rest of the oven?

Argh. AND I've wasted 2 hours of my life trying to remove the glass cover so I can replace the bulb - ended up ordering a tool from customer services. This is why I hate housework.

I'm having the same thoughts about oven cleaner and my integral double o you think anyone actually uses this stuff?

I was wondering if I should ring the oven manufacturer and ask if they'd recommend it...or perhaps I could read the chapter about cleaning in the instruction book. Blush

I use oven cleaner on the floor of my self cleaning oven. Never caused any problems and makes the job a lot easier.

Hmmm - maybe I should take the risk on a little area first...

LOL Gentleness Grin have you STILL not cleaned your oven! I'm waiting for you to do it in case it goes wrong.

Gentleness · 21/06/2012 12:01

Ha - I've STILL not done it, but in my defence I've had a sick child for 2 out of the 10 days on which I could have done it. Yeah - ok - I'm just scared! I'm going to see if my friend will help me do it tonight bolstered by a small glass of wine. Darn - can I use that stuff if I am pregnant anyway? (not the wine...)
