Unexpected day alone in house- what shall I do first?

Thread title says it all really! What job would you do first if you had a bit more? I need to do a normal tidy round, address the washing pile (and the resulting drying/putting away piles, don't ever iron to speak of though) as well as a few bits of washing up. What's next? Should I batch cook? Sort out a wardrobe? start the mammoth task that is the junk room study?

Don't know, but first thing to do is get off MN!

Before you know it, several hours will have passed and the few bits of washing-up will be the only things you'll get seen to Grin

Have a wank?

AnyoneForTennis · 12/06/2012 09:06

If you gave dc then I would go through toys etc and sort out any outgrown/broken ones. Get them out of the house before noticed.....

ThePoshHobbit · 12/06/2012 09:13

All good suggestions. Although I've already taken care of the ferrets one hence me feeling ready to address the housework :)

Start as you mean to go on.

Well done!

If I had an unexpected day to myself, housework wouldn't be top of the list!

BiddyPop · 12/06/2012 09:33

Put on a wash, go and buy the bits for a batch cooking session, open all windows to air house, start frying onions for all dishes, hang out wash (and put on 2nd load if needed), make first dish, go through 1 toy box, make 2nd dish, mop floor and sit to enjoy cup of tea outdoors. Go upstairs and make beds, clear kids rooms, make another dish, sort clothes etc, then get kids to help finish clearing toys when they get in, followed by the promise of some baking. Fold clothes as you take them off the line. Enjoy one of the dishes you made earlier for dinner. And a big slice of cake with a glass of wine later!!

Mum2Fergus · 12/06/2012 11:36

Go out for lunch!!

PoohBearsHole · 12/06/2012 11:37

Have you done your winter to summer clothes? I did and the weather went shit Angry however I put everything into those vacuum bags for winter so felt pretty good with myself. Then I turned on MN and the telly!

Thankyou for inspiration ladies.

Thankyou for inspiration ladies.

It does really have to be spent on housework sadly Boris- we've been away as a family for the last two weekends and as a result the house is a filthy fleapit that I am scared will give the children a nasty bug as it hasn't been cleaned for far too long! Slow cooker/washing machine/drier on (raining here, boo) as well as radio and kettle :)

Am going to pre-make and freeze a shed load of ds's sandwiches for school so that this is taken care of for the next few weeks, and then go through all dc's clothes and have a good clear out. Oooh it feels good! (sad old cow emoticon)

Oh good gracious have opened play room door. Good thing about play rooms is that you can close the doors and not have to see the mess. The bad thing about playrooms is sadly exactly the same. I had no idea it was quite so bad. Eeeeeeeeeek!

So add "sort out European toy mountain" to list
