I have decided to buy myself a dishwasher never had one before but I am sick to the back teeth of being attached to the kitchen sink with no end in sight! Anyway I have a small kitchen and think if I move the dryer into the large hall cupboard I could fit it in beside the washer where the pipes and stuff are? I'm looking at this one www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4786715/c_1/1%7Ccategory_root%7CKitchen+and+laundry%7C14418476/c_2/2%7C14418476%7CDishwashers%7C14418677/c_3/3%7Ccat a I think it would fit better than a full sized one. My DP and DM say it is laziness that I want one and nothing wrong with washing up not them doing my bloody washing up and say it is a luxury product I don't need and once the novelty has worn off it will go unused do you find you don't use yours?

It would be the end of the world if my dishwasher broke down - never want to lose it.

to those who have queries all-in-one tabs or salt and rinse aid - our dishwasher maintenance man said that the tablets are all a big con and that to get your dishes prooperly clean, you should just use salt and rinse aid.

I haven't tried it yet as I'm too lazy so can't comment.

A dishwasher is a condition of my DH and I cohabiting. It is an essential!

Go unused?? Novelty?

It wears off at about the same speed as the novelty of food IME.

Definitely get the biggest one you can fit/afford.

Once you start using it you will never look back.

Dishwasher clean is just that little bit more sparkling than washing up can ever be.

FlouncyMcFlouncer · 14/06/2012 09:34

Make DP do all the washing up forever then. See if that changes his tune.

I'd always go for a Bosch, unless you can afford a Miele.

Full size unless you would have to knock down walls to get it in. Cabinets and appliances can be shifted.

tostaky · 14/06/2012 14:50

get a dishwasher!!!! you have better things to do than wash the dishes!!! (im sure your do could be convinced of that too Wink)

i have a bosh, itis not a full size one, more like half size, it is very good, very quiet but does takes 2 hours to run!!! (shortest programme is 30mins but i think thats too short...) i often have to run it twice a day

I have psoriasis, as does one of my dds, so we need a dishwasher.
Arguments for are that they are apparently more eco friendly than washing up by hand, using less water and detergent.
It's not being lazy, it's being environmentally aware.

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/06/2012 08:07

It took my DH 3 nights of washing up to aggree we needed a dishwasher. I'd done it for 6 years.

My water bill went down to £10 a month and the electric bill went down too.

It's much cheaper to heat 9lts of water than the 100plus a days washing up uses. Research suggests you use 60lts every time you wash up by hand.

Queen I have that exact dishwasher, as needed to fit in a smallish space.
It is absolutely fantastic. Washes perfectly and there is a quick 30 minute wash which is far quicker than most other machines. Even the standard wash is less than an hour. I use half a cheap tablet or just a desert spoon of powder and my dishes come out squeaky clean.

Dont let the slimline bit put you off, its a 10 place setting one! Just a bit narrower than standard size.
I love mine. Think its my favourite thing in the kitchen, don't know how I managed all those years without one to be honest.

You linked to Argos at £230 but it is only £18 at the moment in Comet!
