BORING WASHING POWDER QUESTION

Ok I use that Bold gel stuff cos it smells lovely. Have used Tesco daisy tabs, Bold and Ariel non bio. My washing doesn't come out clean! i have just done a white wash, well light, and there's yellow marks on a white blouse, brown marks from just dirt on white towels.

Anyone got a 100 per cent washing powder, bio or not that works please?

have exact same problem as you OP so will be switching from liquid to powder after reading this but must ask essential how do you regularly clean a filter and where is it? Only thing I regularly clean on washing machine is the drawer

Another really boring question - why is the liquid sometimes left sitting in the drawer? Any ideas what to do?

I get powder left in drawer; I ascribe this to the low water usage of the machine. I now pour powder onto the dirty laundry inside the drum. Seems to work fine.

Colour Bio doesn't have optical brighteners, bleach, though, I think? Colour Bio is what we mostly use, anyway.

We rarely wash above 30 & don't have smelly wash machine problems. I always think smelliness is really down to people keeping the door closed most of the time. Friend got horrendous mould that way.

undesolved powder - have solved the problem by putting the powder directly into the dru,

filter usually it is at the front of the mashine behind a kick plate, often a round screw thingy that you have to unscrew a tiny bit and then pull out (put a towel under the mashine first). then you pull out all the long fibres that are stuck there, might get a couple of lego pieces and coins as well, and lots of hard powder rocks. oh, and it might stink :)

Do a maintenance wash at 90 with bio powder. If you use liquids/ gels all the time your machine can retain some gunk which gets regurgitated through your washing. The bio powder will get rid of it.

If there is residue in the drawer, take it out and clean the water jets - this is usually the cause. A tootbrush will do the job.

another vote for putting the powder straight into the drum out of the measure.

Powder dissolves quicker in hot water than in cold, and with most machines being cold-fill these days, the powder drawer is very often clogged and mouldy.
