At the moment we have DD in her own room in a cot bed and we have a spare room which did have a king size spare bed in it but it was old and knackered and we had the chance recently to get rid of it so we did.

At some point in the future the spare bedroom will probably be either DD's room when she is a bit older or a room for a new baby.

So, what I want to do is buy a bed for that room for nights when I need to sleep in with DD (like last night shudder) or DH does but really I dont want to buy another double bed and then have to get rid of it in years to come as we need a toddler/ single bed. Does anyone have any solutions?

I could probably get a small double which would suit the room and the fact i might need to sleep in there with DD from time to time quite well but then what happens when that is her bed in the future? Would be a bit big for a toddler to go into. Confused

Not the biggest of problems but its doing my head in. ta :)

Have you considered one of those beds with a bed that pulls out from underneath ?

He is away at university now, so the idea is it gives us a bit more flexibility with his room. It's really comfy and has brilliant storage space as well.

Single bed with another that pulls out from underneath. We had a similar dilemma and this was our solution, suits us really well.

Get one where the pull-out bed is separate, because then you have flexibility to use it in other rooms or if she has sleepovers in years to come.

Oh, and a wooden one. We got a metal daybed/pullout one for the spare room and I won't let DCs sleep in there as I'm afraid of their heads getting stuck between the rails.

I did have to scour the Internet for a good wooden one that didn't cost a fortune, but I did find one in the end!

If money is no object, look at Aspace but we had a REALLY bad experience with them and cancelled our order.

Oooh lovely replies already! Thanks everyone!

I agree that one with some kind of pull out bed underneath is probably the way forward and offers most flexibility long term.

poppy furniture in Aspace looks gorgeous but is quite ££! Also i need to do some research to see if their single in the sleepover bed is a kids single or a normal single size, we're pretty tall in this house.

Ive seen some in Warren evans which is where we got our bed. V pleased with service etc from them. They do This kids bed

Or This adults version But i kind of get the impression with the adults version, there is no room to stack the second mattress underneath so you have 2 mattresses, one on top of the other when you aren't using it as two beds Confused I've got visions of princess and the pea.
