We had a big moth problem, still here, but much reduced.

Do you have wool carpets? They were eating ours, it was all patchy and threadbare under the sofa with little white maggot like things Shock they then hatch into the moths. Check around there is probably a patch somewhere.

We hired a carpet cleaner and that did get rid of them out of that patch of carpet, although there are still a few around somewhere.

You can buy lots of anti-moth products which I have scattered around, although not sure they do much after I saw a moth quite happily sat on top of one these. [http://www.amazon.co.uk/Zensect-Bouchard-Proofer-Lavender-Fragrance/dp/B003JC3SYG/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1339145567&sr=8-5 balls] they sell them at tesco, homebase etc.

Hiring the carpet cleaner made the most difference for us, we really need to rip the carpet out and replace with something non-wool but haven't had the money as yet.

We bought a house with significant carpet beetle damage upstairs, and they do eat clothes, too. We sprayed all the edges with Mortein and set off three of those insect bombs. It was like a scene from "The Hurt Locker" as we legged it out of the house.:o Having said that the house was empty so we could do it. They've never come back.

Get carpets really clean, especially where the edge meets the wall. Do you have drawers under the bed? Clean them out with hot water and borax every year and let air-dry. Conkers are a good moth repellent and don't smell at all. I store all under bed clothes, sheets, etc. in those cheap massive shopping bags. You, know the ones with stripes.

Due to lack of conkers in Australia, I now use camphor blocks. They don't make your clothes smell moth-bally. They are VERY poisonous, and only sold here in sealed plastic boxes which you pierce. I put one in every under bed drawer and two in the wardrobes. I wouldn't recommend them around little children who might make it their mission to open the box.

Oh, don't store unwashed clothes. By this mean things like woollen garments which don't get washed after every wear, and might end up in winter storage unwashed. The little critters are attracted by the smell. Apparently they like the smell of women best, though this might be an old misogynist's tale.

Oh thank you :)

I Have those Lavender balls , They are supposed to turn white when they need to be replaced but they are useless tbh .
We have no carpets except on the stairs & landing . Every where else is tiled or wooden floors . So I'm baffled as to how so many moths are around .

You can get some excellent things to kill moths in Robert Dyas. I have some things that I hooked into the back of the curtains. Lavender is no good, you need some proper chemicals!
