Can you keep them soft and fluffy by washing them in a certain way? Mine always seem to go stiffish quite quickly.

I only wash them at 50 degrees; should I wash them at a higher temperature? Less detergent? Vinegar?

Use Bold 2in1, contains a conditioner that doesn't affect absorpancy.

Seona1973 · 06/06/2012 20:53

BrazenHussy · 06/06/2012 21:53

line dry then 20 minutes to finish off and fluff up in tumble dryer and use white vinegar in the wash instead of conditioner.

Tripped · 07/06/2012 07:45

No tumble dryer, sadly. I'll try the white vinegar.

I always use white vinegar it works well for colour fastness (not those disgusting chemical smelly brands). But you need SOFT WATER for soft washing. I have a special ball that's magnetic that I put in all my washing or use the cheap water softener they sell in the supermkts (Calgon works but is too expensive IMO).

Acumenoop · 07/06/2012 08:24

White vinegar.

Aaah the water - that's probably it, our water is very hard. Thanks for the tip.

ppeatfruit / what is the name or where did you buy the ball? Thanks ;)

ppeatfruit · 08/06/2012 09:57

I've had them for soo long i can't quite remember OKO magnetic or something like that. You'd get them in a huge supermkt or John Lewis maybe on line?

I bought an amazing laundry ball as well but that was in Fr. I've seen them in England though in hardware shops of course the normal supermrkts don't stock them they save you SOOOO much money!

The only thing that I've tried is tumbling, which works. Annoying though as I feel tumbling is v wasteful and I never do it normally.

I have crusty towels for us and lovely soft tumbled ones for guests :)

Will try the other suggestions too now.
