Miele Cat and Dog vs Henry Hound

Fed up of my Dyson not picking up pet hair. Finally narrowed it down to these two hoovers.

Does anyone have any experience of either?

Which one would you buy?

I don't have the pet version but I wouldn't look past my Henry, I love him! That said I've never used/owned a Miele so can't compare.

Sorry I'm not much use am I, but I love Henry!

DukeHumfrey · 06/06/2012 10:59

I have a Henry too - with an Air brush which is far better than the plain attachment for getting up pet hair (haven't tried the turbo brush).

It's great - but if it died I might go for the Miele because the Miele is a little lighter, if you get the little cylinder one, and apparently just as good.

zlist · 06/06/2012 12:05

I have two dogs (but small ones that don't have much of a hair issue) and I have a miele cat and dog vacuum. I think it is great!

sereneswan · 06/06/2012 12:17

Don't know about this Henry but I have the Miele Cat & Dog and I love it. We have two cats who moult a LOT and it's invaluable. It comes with good attachments and you can buy lots more as well (we just bought the extra large upholstery brush for de-furring the bed - sad, I know!)

Don't know about the Henry as I said, but have used a basic Henry before. Good for simple but heavy dury stuff (we used one when house was a building site) but never rated them for day to day.

AllOverIt · 06/06/2012 16:51

This is all good advice, thank you. Looking at some second hand reconditioned ones on EBay at the moment. My Dyson is fab for day to day stuff but it is so awful at picking up dog hair. My lovely cocker is moulting all over the place and it's a sea of hair Grin

We have a cocker too and he moults so much i am surprised he is not baldConfused.Have just been to the groomer today so he looks all smart but still moulting!

Thinking about miele cat and dog but they are sooo expensive ,didn't know you could get reconditioned ones

ArcticRoll · 08/06/2012 18:48

have Miele Cat and Dog-brilliant-would recommend.

AllOverIt · 08/06/2012 19:09

Right. Looks like it's the Miele.... Thanks guys Smile

AllOverIt · 18/07/2012 10:44

Well. I. am. in. love. Grin

We bought the Miele, the 2200w one as I thought it would be better in the long run as I wouldn't be permanently buying bags. The carpet in the back room was horrendous as the cocker is molting like mad and we dog-sat for SIL and her huge lab. I tried in vain last night with the poxy Dyson and it didn't get any of the hair.

The Miele arrived this morning and I just ran it over the carpet. It is a miracle. The carpet looks a completely different colour! I am in love with a hoover!

Why is everyone elses Miele Cat and Dog so good?! Mine is crap. Doesn't pick up the dog hair AT ALL. I even spent £80 on having it friggin' serviced. Its utter shite.

AllOverIt · 18/07/2012 11:15

Oh no! Have you got the cat and dog? What kind of carpets do you have?

OP posts:
valiumredhead · 18/07/2012 16:08

Meile every time for any appliance.

AllOverIt · 18/07/2012 16:50

It's my aim to gradually replace everything as it dies to Miele. The washing machine and tumble dryer wouldn't fit in my utility though which is VERY annoying. Might have to move house so we can get Miele ones...

OP posts:
TheDetective · 18/07/2012 17:09

Yes, its a cat and dog! Had it for 3 years, its my second one, first broke before the end of the first year so was replaced.

I am on my second lot of carpets in that time! They are quite thick soft carpets, but the previous ones were thin and had very little pile!

AllOverIt · 18/07/2012 22:54

That's rubbish Sad has it got the turbo brush? I was actually quite scared as it felt so powerful. I thought I was going to damage the carpet!

Can you return it? Sounds like its faulty.

OP posts:
Pinot · 19/07/2012 11:32

Can you link to a refurbished one, please, OP?

Ponders · 19/07/2012 11:40

there are 2 cylinder Cat & Dogs - one a bit cheaper than the other. The more expensive is the turbo one but you can buy the turbo head separately for the other one (I think)

TheDetective · 19/07/2012 12:37

I have the more expensive one with the turbo head. The turbo head is shitter than the regular head!!!! Seriously don't know where I've gone wrong! Am tearing my hair out because the dog hair is absolutely horrendous!!

AllOverIt · 19/07/2012 22:38

I would definitely contact Miele as that doesn't sound right. Everyone I've spoken to who has it says it's brilliant. There must be something wrong. Whereabouts are you? If you're in Surrey area I could pop round with mine so you can see if it's any better Wink

OP posts:
AllOverIt · 19/07/2012 22:41

Can't do links as in on my phone but there is an ex-display one on EBay at the mo...

OP posts:
YankNCock · 19/07/2012 22:45

Miele Cat & Dog. I've had mine for 9 years and it is STILL going. I replaced the turbo brush head recently, plus a filter that you're apparently supposed to change every year (but I hadn't), and it's like new again. I found a local shop to fix it for me for £20 when it wouldn't turn on...turns out there was just a loose connection because I'd been too rough on it banging it down the stairs, etc.

Ponders · 19/07/2012 23:04

that is weird, detective Confused

I have an ordinary Miele vac, with an ordinary head, & it struggled picking up some long human hair from nylonish carpet tiles, because the hair stuck to the fibres

What fibre are your carpets? & how long are the dog hairs?

CheddarsLondon2012Olympics · 19/07/2012 23:24

I've had my Miele cat and dog for about 10 years and it's fab. Still going strong although I should probably have it serviced. I'd say it's been worth every penny.
