Do you put damp items (towels/face cloths etc) in your laundry bin/hamper?

I have a laundry bin in my bedroom right beside my ensuite door and it would be handy if I could throw things into it like towels etc.

It is metal with a wooden lid, and a canvas bag so I'm a bit wary of damp things due to rust and ick.

So, straw poll, do you and if so, does it cause issues, and if not what have you got?

No - damp stuff straight into machine or next to it

Leaving damp stuff in the bin makes everything smell

I have a metal bin

Towels get gathered up from the bathrooms once a week for a big wash and go straight into the machine, so rarely get into the laundry bin.

I have a laundry bin in each bathroom and one in the utility room. Wet stuff like face cloths I tend to drape over the side of the bathroom ones to dry a bit before tipping into the bottom of the bin. Ours are mesh-type fabric jobbies from Ikea.

Towels are either clean and hanging to dry or in the laundry bin.

DD uses a clean facecloth every day and I throw them into a small plastic waste bin and wash them about 3 times a week with whatever is going into the machine. This might be a bit gross but I couldn't think of what else to do with them.

Oooh, small plastic bin in the bathroom might do it. Bath towels and hand towels are large enough that they all get done together every few days, but it's the little flannels and muslins for cleansing where I use a new cloth daily that I have no clue about.

A little bin under the sink may be the answer provided DH doesn't use it as a bin

Thanks! Thanks

I wrote "bin" and "flannels" on mine with a Sharpie. Sad I know...

Oooh. I could then exercise my stationery fetish to buy sharpies if I did that Grin
