How do I get rid of the smell?

My MIL gave me a lovely dresser that she no longer wanted for my kitchen. It had been stored in a garage for a couple of years and had a musty smell. I cleaned it with water and bleach and then painted the dresser. On the inside of the drawers and cupboard, I didn't use my horrendously expensive Farrow and Ball paint, instead I used gloss Fired Earth paint that I'd stored for about 5 years in the shed.

Now the dresser has a horrible smell of paint combined with must when you open the drawers or cupboard doors. Is there anything I can do to get rid of the smell?

put it outside on a sunny day, with the doors and drawers open and the back facing the sun.

If you already swabbed it with water I expect you have cleaned off the water-soluble residues. I would have swabbed it with white spirit or household cleaner as well for any grease or oil-bourne odours, as will occur if it has been in a kitchen. Might be too late now, but if the paint is fully hard you could do the unpainted surfaces, and especially the top, and the shelves.

BTW this tip was given me by an antiques restorer. White spirit does not attack French Polish apparently as its solvent is alcohol.

Put it outside, spray it with vinegar and put little tubs off bicarbonate of soda in it.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll shift it out the back at the weekend and hope your suggestions do the trick.
