Cleaning cloth upholstery in car

The seats in the car are grimy.
The car is old, and the dealership no longer sells the approriate fabric cleaner.
I have used some high street brands, but they have managed to leave ring marks if that makes sense.
Dont want to say the make and model of the car at this stage,as dont want to out myself.
Does anyone have any other suggestions please, other than covering the seats of the car, or selling it.

My mother said that last time they hired a carpet cleaner they used the upholstery option for the car seats and it worked really well.

Thanks for that.Hadnt thought about that.
Wouldnt mind trying a cheaper option first if anyone has any other ideas, else carpet cleaner it may have to be.

I thought I wouldnt respond again until the weekend was nearly over.
Looks like it is going to have to be a carpet cleaner.
Thanks for the reply mistlethrush.
I am thinking to hire one,I think I am right in saying you can get them from a certain supermarket? And then I am thinking our sofas could do with a clean so presuming we can use it on them too.

I think that's probably where they got their's from - or perhaps a DIY chain ???

I used my carpet cleaner on my car and they came up spotless with vax cleaning fluid.

Have you tried Vanish mousse? I tried it on my last car's ceiling fabric as the previuous owner was a smoker and it worked a treat

amillionyears · 28/05/2012 07:31

Thanks for all the ideas.I will give them a try.

ok,went to buy vanish mousse today.Thought I would try that first as it was the cheapest option.Lots of vanish products, but couldnt see any mousses.
Just been online, and the only mousse I can see is a vanish carpet power foam mousse.
If Smurfy1 is still about, can you tell me please if that is the one you mean,or else is there anybody else to help.Thanks.

I think we've used the vanish carpet cleaner in the car when DS has been extensively sick in the car

Smurfy1 · 01/06/2012 10:39

Sorry yeah its the Vanish carpet power foam, works on clothes too :-))

amillionyears · 01/06/2012 10:48
