Does this really need a dry clean?

I've just got a cardigan from ebay which the seller didn't say was dry clean only. It's 60% nylon 40% viscose.

Does it really need to be dry cleaned? I'm sure I have things made of these two materials if not in that proportion and I never dry clean anything.

It's a thrilling subject for a Saturday night.

I hardly ever dry clean. I put things on a 30 wash even of it says dry clean. Check on the Internet. I'm think it's only wool or silk that HAS to be dry cleaned

Glad you liked it MrsGuy Wink

I've not seen anything decisive but apparently manufacturers are obliged to only put one cleaning method. So, if your garment says, 'Dry Clean Only,' it means it. If it says, 'Dry Clean,' there may be another way to do it.

Off to check mine.

I just put stuff like that on the handwash cycle. So far so good Smile

someone once told me that american brands often recommend dry cleaning, apparently because dry cleaning is much cheaper and more common there than here. it doesn't necessarily mean that the garment can only be dry cleaned.

i sense you wouldn't have bought it in the first place if you'd known...

I do think she should have said. I have two pre schoolers. Dry cleaning doesn't make it onto my list.

Never mind.
