condensor dryer...what am I doing wrong??...

Had to have a condensor dryer in the new house as there is no where to put a vented one.

I hate it.

It makes the utility area hot and humid even with the fan on and window open. It takes AGES to dry the clothes...today I gave up and have put them on the clothes horse to dry...after over 2 hours in the dryer they were STILL damp!

Is it me or are all condensor dryers like this?

(filter is clean and washed out every month, water drawer emptied after each cycle)

I will re check the intructions.

Atm we take and rinse the big filter at the bottom once a month.

I empty the filter near the door after every use and I empty the water holder after each use too.

I wish I could have a vented one! Sad

I have an AEG condenser in a teeny utility room and it definitely doesn't get that hot.

I had a 1200 spin bosch washing machine that was about 9 years old, it died, replaced it with a 1400 spin AEG and it made a huge difference to the amount of time the condenser is on.

I can dry uniform/t shirts/couple of pairs of jeans in one load in under 1hr 30. The washing machine holds 8kg load. I know the times because I put the stuff in the tumble at the same time as a new load in the washing machine and I take the clothes out of the tumble drier and then have to wait for the washing machine to finish.

Is there any friend who has a 1400 spin washing machine who would let you use it for one load to test the spin theory? I always thought my washing machine was fab until I got the new one. I couldn't believe how much it reduced the time the clothes spent in the tumble drier.

I think maybe you just have a crap condenser drier to be fair.

has this utility room not got any external walls?

Apart from the £x,000 heat recycling ones, condensors tend to be not as good as vented, and are more expensive.

You can hire a core drill which cuts a neat round hole in a brick or block external wall that a vent kit goes through.

Sadly not pg The utility "room" is actually also the downstairs WC too! It was converted by the previous owners from a garage and the WC is on the external wall and we just cant afford to start re-plumbing Sad

My washing machine is a bosch and has a max 1200 spin cycle - which I use for everything.

This was happening to me but it was solved by discovering a filter in the actual door which I didn't know existed. Also a small bag had fallen down the back of the dryer and slightly covered the vent, removing that did the trick for me.
