Dustpan & brush - normal or long-handled?

Just that really. :) I've decided I need to invest in one to clear up the debris left behind by my 2 y.o.

Well, I do love my long handled one, but emptying it is a bit of a faff if you have a pedal bin (standing on pedal while standing at arms length!)

normal. I bought a separate metal dustpan from the iron mongers and a good sturdy short handled brush. The plastic sets always seem to have a gap.

I wouldn't be without our long handled one (I can't get down on the floor easily to use a normal one though). So much better for clearing up after meals and I've found that because it's easy, I sweep up much more frequently and the debris doesn't get trawled around the rest of the house.

Have had one for more than 6 years.

And I empty it into our food waste bin which is easier.

Long handled. I have a 2 year old and it is invaluable.

Thanks everyone - long handled it is, then. My kitchen bin will stay open even without your foot on the pedal, so that's one difficulty overcome. :)

How much do you want to pay? I have this and it is honestly lovely. It makes sweeping up a real pleasure!! However, I did get given mine as a gift!

It looks good - but beyond the budget, sadly. I suppose it's technically a present as it comes out of my Christmas money (ie because it's a non-essential - we have one somewhere already; I just can't find it anywhere!)
