Vacuum storage for clothes

I have three wardrobes and need to downsize so we have enough room to assemble DD's cot. Can I use vacuum storage bags for dresses and suits or would they come out so creased that I could never wear them again? Would it be best to keep the vacuum storage bags for cotton tops and woollies?

I've been doing this while packing to move, and my rule has been anything that doesn't need dry cleaning is fair game. That way if it comes out looking seriously crap I can chuck it in the wash and give it an iron and it should be ok again.

Should probably point out that these are all fairly inexpensive clothes, so it won't be a catastrophe if I turn out to be wrong!

I love vacuum storage bags and use them all the time for packing away summer/winter clothes. The stuff usually needs an iron run over it once unpacked but I'm talking about jeans, shorts, tshirts, vests. I wouldn't use them for nice suits, dresses, lovely wool/cashmere jumpers or anything that needs dry cleaning, I'd be too scared they'd end up looking like an old rag.

I agree with others. Not suits. Things like the shoulder pads may well distort. Although pencil skirts/trousers would probably be ok if you didn't mind separating the halves (not sure how much space this would save though).

Dresses- depends what type. Jersey wrap dress, fine. Structured work shift, nope.

Like others, broadly I only vacuum pack it if you can wash it.
