I'm sure this has been done a million times before (pls humour me) ... which is the best upright Dyson?

Dyson is dying Sad and we have heard some of the newer dysons have very small cylinders. We need it to be:

  • upright
  • anti allergy
  • good for carpet and hard floors.

Can anyone help please?

Personally, I would buy a Mile.
Sorry I'm not much help.

Miele

EclecticShock · 07/05/2012 20:38

I have a dyson animal, the ball one. Very good. Never had a miele so can't comment.

CheesyWellingtons · 07/05/2012 21:29

Eclectic - have heard the ball ones have tiny cylinders that need constant emptying - is this so?

Thanks all.

I don't have a problem with that and they are very quick and simple to empty.

Longtalljosie · 08/05/2012 08:16

A Sebo X4 Extra. Really, Dysons are mostly hype. And they always lose suction.

trumpton · 08/05/2012 08:26

I love my dyson I have DC o7 and it has never lost suction. It did delelope a mechanical fault last week and it was picked up , repaired nd returned within the week .

JsOtherHalf · 08/05/2012 17:07

Still wistfully looking at the new gtech air ram..

Nanny0gg · 09/05/2012 01:00

I second the Sebo.

An absolute doddle to empty. And really efficient.

trumpton · 10/05/2012 15:24

Looking at g tech air ram for MIL house as it so light . John Lewis are only stockists tho and I would like to actually see one and handle it before spending over £200 on it .

millpond · 10/05/2012 15:55

Sebo cannot be beaten. I have had 3 dysons and all lost suction........just after the guarantee expired!

MrAlbertoFrog · 13/05/2012 08:30

We had a Dyson upright which died after 13 years. Got a Sebo X4 and although it is ok for large expanses of carpet it is useless for nooks and crannies and stairs because I find the hose too short and there is only one tool attached to the machine (rest are stored separately).

LukeWarmMomma · 18/05/2012 18:22

Miele are much better in my opinion. Had a Dyson once and it kept going wrong - repair shop that it was repairing Dysons that kept them in business !!

TheScottishPlayer · 18/05/2012 18:24

I replaced our Dyson with at Miele a few months ago and it is miles better.

pigsinmud · 18/05/2012 18:56

Same as TheScottishPlayer. My dyson was rubbish and was only a couple of years old. Now have Miele and it actually picks stuff up Shock

jellyjem · 18/05/2012 19:46

I do love Miele BUT the new ones are nowhere near as good as the old Miele, I replaced my old Miele which was about 10 years old last year and my new one is much flimsier in comparison, I don't think it'll last as long as my old one. Saying that I still think Miele are miles better than Dyson.

maxmillie · 18/05/2012 22:18

conversely i went the other way - dyson upright to miele cylinder and i hate it. it is great at hoovering, I have to admit, but it is the most unwieldy, awkward, cumbersome thing I have ever had to use - I actually broke it once in frustration.
