Miele washer dryers or seperate appliances?

Ok,so my kitchen has recently started to be like the one on the which advert, things going wrong!
I am looking to replace my fridge freezer & the tumble dryer. Dh thinks we should get a big larder fridge, separate under counter freezer & essentially get rid of the tumble dryer. We are in a flat, small kitchen & so I really need a t dryer so wondering about washer dryers as I'd like rid of the lg washing machine.
The Miele one looks good, has anyone got it?
I'm still thinking that we could still have a seperate tumble dryer & simply remove a small cupboard to get a taller fridge freezer.
Opinions please,my brain aches :o

Hi Icelollycraving - I've got the Miele one, and while it's a great machine, I only ever use the dryer function occasionally (if too warm to have heating on to dry inside, or too wet to hang stuff outside). It's never going to be as good as separate machines if you use your tumble dryer a lot - I don't think it's as efficient, and you can't dry a full load at a time so always have to take some stuff out. And obviously if you've got a few loads to get through, it takes a lot longer because you can't be drying one load while the next one's washing. So I think if you've got the space, go for separate machines.

I would never have a washer/dryer unless there was absolutely no alternative - too much to go wrong, they are much less reliable than separate washer & dryer

Get the biggest fridge-freezer you can & stick to a separate tumble dryer

We have always had just a washer dryer, and I wouldn't go back to separate machines. However, washer dryers seem to have more issues than the separate ones and the cheaper ones often seemed to go wrong so we had insurance on it and were resigned to using the insurance regularly for callouts.

Get as bit as you can for the dryer capacity.

We have just bought a more expensive one LG F1480RD and it seems more sturdy and has a better guarantee with it.

We've got a Miele fridge freezer btw, and it has always been rubbish, which put us off the Miele washer dryer option.

Sorry meant big as you can, not bit

We've got a Miele washer/dryer, have had it quite a few years. It is fantastic, i can't recommend it highly enough. We have never had a single problem with it, although I think Miele are supposed to be rated really highly for reliability.

I find that it dries things as well as a separate dryer, which is unusual for washer/dryers (our previous Hotpoint was pretty useless at drying!). If I was limited on space, I'd definitely opt for that one unless you have huge volumes of washing that need washing/drying simultaneously!

My only (small) gripe is that you get the fluff from clothes after drying in the next wash cycle. But that Miele does have a "rinse out fluff" option if you need it.

If it helps your space situation, you can get a stacking kit for the separate washer and dryer - so you could have one on top of the other. No idea if that would make things easier for you though!

separates are generally better, more reliable, and cheaper.
