Where can you get really nice cot bumpers/blankets etc?

I've tried Vertbaudet as my default, but they haven't got much this season.

I'm looking for something really nice and maybe a bit unusual, and not sure where to look!

Has anyone seen any nice baby bedding things online?

thankyou Smile

We have the JojoMamanBebe rainbow Range. I love it.

Cot bumpers are not always safe please read thus before you spend lots of money on padded Cot bumpers.

My youngest is now almost 10,but I ended up making quilt, nappy stacker, curtains etc as I couldn't find anything I liked-is this an option
?

Flightty · 05/05/2012 11:40

Thankyou so much. I have read your link Pottering, I didn't know they could be dangerous so thankyou for telling me.

The rainbow things on jojo look beautiful - I just got a Fisher Price rainbow blanket which I love. So that's the sort of thing. Nice and bright Smile

Shesparkles, it did cross my mind but very briefly! given my intentions and books about knitting for baby and so on, that the last two pregnancies failed to address fully I am unambitious with this one Grin

But after reading that link I might give it a try...I'm thinking more of a draught excluder, really - that might sound silly but we had the cot in the kitchen near the chimney, last time, and I ended up sewing a sheet of pretty fabric to go behind it and tie on to stop the wind whistling into it.

I also made a reversible liner for a wicker crib with my first baby, so I guess the old skills might brush up Smile

I'm thinking of making just a thin liner, not padded, so it won't make the cot too warm. I hope that will negate some of the risk.

I'd keep your money in your pocket. Baby should stay in your room for the first 6 months to reduce the risk of SIDS, once they are mobile the cot bumpers are dangerous anyway. Both of mine also refused to sleep anywhere but in bed with me so didn't sleep in the nursery until they were about 15 months.

Why not see how things work out once baby is here and then treat yourself to a cot bumper if you still want one?

Hi Julie,

Thankyou,

Well considering Ds2 is still co-sleeping somewhat and he's nearly five, don't worry Smile Mine both co slept with me till about this age/starting school, but as we live in a lage-ish flat, I like to have a cot in one of the main rooms for during the day, when I am busy with things, so I am near to the baby when he or she is asleep. I thought it was the best thing ever having a cot in our kitchen!

You're right though, I've a long while yet to worry about buying stuff. I just like looking around for nice things as it takes my mind off feeling sick Smile

Mind you the kitchen here is smaller, so it'll have to be the living room...or maybe just the door end of the bedroom so I can see him or her easily.

We don't have a nursery so if we end up using a cot for sleeping at night, it'll be right by our bed anyway. I always seem to intend to 'oust' the baby at what, 6 months or so but it never quite happens that way does it Grin

Ikea has some nice bedding (had some gorgeous flannelette sheets with rabbits and carrots on for DD1) and I'll echo what others have said about bumpers. Neither of mine had them on their cots and they've lived to tell the tale (DD2 is often to be found with her face pressed up against the bars at night). That aside, I had no idea you were pg - congratulations!

Flightty · 05/05/2012 18:34

Thankyou Mejon, that's lovely Smile I've just looked at Ikea online, there are some nice things...I wish we had a shop near us but we haven't. I may summon up the energy to go on a trip to the nearest one, one of these days but I know I would spend a fortune in there so perhaps best stick with the website!

Have a look online for Doudou et Compagnie, they do the most adorable nursery things and comforters.

Flightty · 06/05/2012 13:39

Thankyou very much, I will.
