They didn't tell me until it was fitted that limestone is very, very absorbable! Any advice please on how to remove stains?
Thanks.

Yes, limestone is porous.
Can't help you but I would very much like the same advice.
Because of it's porosity when you scrub it, all you do is wash it in.
I have tried lemon juice on a piece of cotton wool, dabbed onto the stain. It does make it lighter but it is not ideal.
On the other hand, it IS a fire place, so maybe just relax into it, and have a lovely roaring fire.

Thanks her outdoors. Will have to try not to stress about it and just hope nothing major gets spilled on it. Looks lovely at the mo!

I think that a product called Klingstrip will clean it. You paste it on cover with clingfilm and remove.

There is also a sealing product you can paint on which makes it marginally less porous, the guy who installed ours put a coat of it on as part of the service, it is matt and invisible, should at least give you a fighting chance with potential stains. Don't know what it was called though, sorry.

Thanks mrscrafty. Will look for that.

The fitter did mention about a sealer but said they don't work. Might be worth trying though as anything's better than nothing. Thanks v much.
