I've run out of things to iron...!

Seriously!

Got a new steam reservoir tank iron thingy (no clue about the proper name Blush )

I have just ironed (in 1 hour!) 5 t-shirts, 5 shirts, 2 linen shirts, 9 blouses & 3 pairs of linen trousers. Shock

And I previously hated ironing.

Now I'd consider doing it as a job! (but wouldn't really IYSWIM!)

I'm no longer going to be the scruffy, unkempt mother at toddler groups! Yay! Smile

I was like you when I first got mine.....don't worry it doesn't last long........Grin

They are blimmin good though, I would never go back to a regular iron

ChaosTrulyReigns · 04/05/2012 12:53

Where do you live?

CarpeJugulum · 04/05/2012 12:55

Hehehe - up in the wilds of Scotland Chaos - bit far for you if my stalkerish brain is right Wink

Plenty here. Happy to courier it up to you Wink. Sounds like a fab bit of kit.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 04/05/2012 12:58

Utterbum.

Yup way too far.

happygonicky · 04/05/2012 15:01

Very exciting! I'm hoping to get one - what make did you get? Did you get a special ironing board to tackle condensation issue?

RedBlanket · 04/05/2012 15:03

If you live in the NW I can have 10 bin bags round within the hour.

CarpeJugulum · 04/05/2012 16:32

Sorry, still no to the location Grin

And this is the iron I bought.

Haven't got a new ironing board, but I do have one of those metalised covers that do both sides at once (allegedly) and it seems okay just now, but am monitoring it.

I got one to test via MN. I might even love it more than my husband. In 30 mins I have done dd's dress, 1 x top and 4 x shirts em was admittedly one of them was an easy iron one but I do think its fab.

Try sheets. Wow. Fold them up into a reasonable size and just steam and press. I used to do that, but over it now Wink

happygonicky · 04/05/2012 17:16

Oooh! Thanks. Roll on payday...

Pinner35 · 06/05/2012 13:59

Hmmm, so what's the big deal with these then? I like the idea of one but I don't understand how it irons better than a normal iron.

CarpeJugulum · 07/05/2012 09:20

I didn't see it either until I got one!

Basically, instead of your iron (if you have a normal one) getting hot and emitting gentle steam - and you then spray with water to get creases out (if you're like me that is), it just keeps pumping out quite hot steam all the time.

The iron glides better, and there's no need to spray with water although I did on a really creased linen jacket which now looks amazing. Because of the heat/steam combination, I found creases just "fell" out of shirts and blouses and I only needed to iron one side of t-shirts instead of ironing them round the board IYSWIM.

Basically makes things much faster and much less effort...

And there are too many "basically" 's in that post. Sorry!

I love my steam generator!! I am one of the sad ones that loves ironing tho and would happily do it for a living!!! Blush

SkinnyVanillaLatte · 07/05/2012 09:27

Carpe if you ran out of ironing after those few things, you're really not getting the hang of an ironing pile.

If you could see mine,it would teach you a thing or two,I can tell you.

I iron when it collapses. It can reach about 4 ft against a wall with minimal attention. If you're prepared for a little maintenance and careful folding,I see no reason why you couldn't achieve 6 ft.

And my iron is crap. There is no justice in this world.

CarpeJugulum · 07/05/2012 11:22

Ah, see, I used to go for the hang it up and iron when required school of thought.

Much easier Wink

I have this one yes I know it is £200 but I had loads of vouchers for DH and my birthday my birthday so it wasn't anywhere near that much.

But I also did the whole what is the big deal about this iron. It just glides through the creases so you spend less time going over the creases and it is strange not spraying with water first but you don't need to.

Can anyone tell me what ironing board they have that allows them to iron for a long time? I have a minky one and after only 20-30 minutes the ironing board is wet where the two support bars underneath don't allow the steam to escape.

The cover gets wet in two lines and these transfer to the clothes.
