Tumble dryer

We will be purchasing one soon. I don't want to spend a fortune, but I need ne that will completely dry clothes and not take ages. Condenser would probably be best.

I realise how dull this is. can anyone share their make/model of tumble dryer that works well?

I realise I can hang clothes as well, and I do...

Anyone? No one wants to discuss tumble dryers? How odd! Grin

We have a Miele, so probably not what you are looking for.

I would say get a vented one if at all possible.

My dryer takes less than an hour for a 6kg load. Most dryers take less time than the corresponding washer, so they are not the appliance that is dictating your time.

Dryers are fairly simple. They have a heater, fan, and motor to tumble the drum. They also have a timer that you can set. A slightly fancier one has a moisture sensor that you can use instead of setting a timer. You would want one with high and low heat settings.

Mine's a Candy. It's brilliant, not very quiet though.

I have a Siemens and it's a condenser with a sensor. It also has a timer which I set and my washing's nice & dry when I get up in the morning.

I've had two condenser dryers and both have at times leaked a bit so I wouldn't put one on laminate flooring. Fine on tiles though.

LG all the way for us. Built as well as the Miele, has an 8kg drum so great for drying the kids' down duvets.

Got a basic Bosch. Had it about seven years and no problems. It's a condensor so I have been able to move it around. I find it a godsend on wet days when I need to get the sheets dry. I tend not to use it for other stuff as not v environmentally friendly and not always good for clothes but for bedding, towels, and "finishing off" stuff on a low setting so it can go straight in the cupboard - it's ideal.

Thanks, everyone!
Is a vented one better? I just think it will be tricky to get the vent outside...
