Weekly jobs - what do you do?

Have recently had a big clearout, and house is looking much better than it has done in ages. I want to create a weekly routine to help me stay on top of it, but not sure where to start. So please tell me, what "jobs" do you do around the house each week, and roughly how long do you spend on them?

I tend to do a different room each day so week looks like:
Monday - ironing
Tuesday - clean hall and lounge
Wednesday - kitchen
Thursday - bathroom
Friday - bedrooms /change sheets
Weekend - washing
I keep the house generally tidy, so on the whole its only dusting/hoovering that I have to do.

Some days take less than others (but usually an hour max), I've worked it around what else I have to do on each day (e.g I actually like ironing and find it quite relaxing after a hectic weekend!)

On a rotational basis I also tend to do one 'deep clean' thing a week e.g. Cleaning windows, cleaning out fridge, cleaning oven.

Thanks zippy. Trying to get a handle on what I need to daily and what I need to do weekly at the moment, also which tasks can be done less often. It would be interesting to know more about your "deep clean" tasks and how often you get round to them.

I really struggle with housework, so think I need to start working off checklists or something, in order to ensure that I get stuff done.

When people say that they clean the kitchen, for example, what does that mean? I assume that it includes wiping surfaces, cleaning the sink, mopping floor etc., but after that, I'm a bit stuck. How often do people clear out the fridge, microwave, oven etc. What other jobs need doing?

I am very ignorant about stuff like this. Blush My mother suffered with depression and ran a chaotic household, so I never really learnt what to do, but I think I should now be grown up enough to take responsibility! I don't want dd growing up as ignorant of basic housework as I was.

I have an app in my phone which is called Producteev (it was free!), which you can make lists on, and i've set it up so when I tick off this weeks ironing it automatically goes on to next weeks monday list.

The kitchen sides get wiped down daily usually (as I'm a bit of a messy cook!), and I've got a mini dyson which I use to get crumbs, so the weekly clean is usually a wipe down of cupboards, cleaning sink, mopping floor.

The bigger things are more just as and when I can be bothered think of them, but then once done I might put a reminder in producteev for e.g. 6 weeks time depending in what it is- windows approx 6 weekly, fridge every couple of months, oven every 6 months ish, pulling out all the furniture in a room to clean behind yearly!

I have practically no routine at all- it depends on who is here- DH often away half the week and what's going on with my work!

DCs have left home/ uni so there is often just me here (I work from home) and DH is away 1-2 times a week. This makes a huge difference compared to when DCs were at home.

However, bathroom ( en suite) gets a full clean each week- usually weekends- that means bath, shower, basin, loo, dust skirting boards nad wash floor- and bath/basin/loo get a quick wipe round and bleach another 1-2 times a week.

Kitchen floor gets hoovered almost daily as does hall. Mop over both as needed- ususally 2x a week or more if necessary.

Every day the kitchen is cleaned- work tops wiped as i go, spillages on floor wiped up, sink cleaned, etc. dishwasher empited and re-stacked every day.

Downstairs loo gets a good clean once a week.

Lounge and rest of downstairs is hoovered once a week and suted as and w hen.

Beds changed once a week and towels the same or more.

Bedroom and stairs hoovered once a week.

Other jobs such as cleaning windows inside are done as and when- maybe once ever 2months.
