All words of encouragement welcome! Have to sort ye bedroom tomorrow, had guests so dumped everything in there. Can barely get in the door now, floor is covered with bags of stuff... Any tips on getting trough the clutter?

good luck!
some good tips on Flylady
I have a friend coming round shortly which always helps motivate me--in fact better get off here, get dressed and tidy up!

Pretend that you are on the tele on some kind of reality cleaning up the house type show and act as if everyone is watching you. (I have done this when my children were younger and driving me to distraction on the basis that I only shout at them in private) Alternatively pretend tht you have guests coming again who have very high standards and you need to clean up for them. Of just slump among the bags with biscuits and pretend the cleaner is coming round later.

In there with a plastic bag and clean out rubbish. That's the start.
Is it paperwork and stuff, or clothes? Or
I would work through piles. Put some music on and work fast. The longer you put it off, the more the (mental) task builds.

I find that setting a timer helps me most.

Also, fly lady does something called a 27 fling boogie - you have to find 27things to bin, then 27 to rehome, and 27 to put away (well, that is how I do it) can help when you don't know where to start.

Iwasagnome · 13/04/2012 08:55

I am impressed you have managed it!

Well done-timer works for me. Fifteen minutes at a time and I allow myself to have the fourth fifteen minute slot off (and usually the one after thatWink). Flylady is my domestic saviour!
