DH back to work, but the kids and I are still off for the rest of the week.
DH rarely has time off work, so the kids and I have just chilled out with him for the long weekend.

It's been lovely, but....there are a few jobs that have been adding up. Part of me didn't do them because it was nice relaxing at home as a family, part of me didn't want to be rushing around doing them if he was going to be lazing around for the weekend.

This isn't a winge about how little he does as I have more time off than he does and am happier to do more of a share of the housework - and he does the bulk of the garden jobs etc. It's more a fact that I'm looking forward to tackling a few of the jobs that are starting to annoy me.

DD1 will have a friend around tomorrow and DD2 will alternate between bouncing on the trampoline, playing on moshi monsters and decorating easter biscuits so it will be easy to crack on and do a few things.

I'm planning on doing the same today or at least starting it. Iv worked all weekend DP has been at home with DS so nothing's been done apart from the basics.
I also need to get cracking with the back long of washing seeing as the washing machine decided to die on me. Just hope I can get it all dry.

HateBeingCantDoUpMyJeans · 10/04/2012 07:51

I've got so much to do Sad

HettyKett · 10/04/2012 08:04

I've got loads to do today too, but am child free until 11:45 so I'd better crack on really Hmm

First to the mountain of washing up I thibk.. I always usually do it straight after dinner but DP had invited friends round yesterday evening and forgot to mention it...

HettyKett · 10/04/2012 08:05

that we were expecting guests at 7:30, not the washing up. That was obvious to all!

DedalusDigglesPocketWatch · 10/04/2012 08:11

I should have a massive clean up, but already got plans for this morning and afternoon.

Maybe will do half an hour blitz when we get home later after sitting the kids down in front of the telly (ds is 20m, so not too helpful on the cleaning front :o )

HettyKett · 10/04/2012 08:38

Right, all the windows are open and the washing up water is run. Wish me luck Wink

HateBeingCantDoUpMyJeans · 10/04/2012 09:16

Good luck, I e put my third load of washing on, not tgat the other two are out yet. Ds has scoffed his breakfast do he and dd are going in tge bath I think and hopefully he might go back to sleep then.

HettyKett · 10/04/2012 09:51

3rd wash already, wow Shock

I've done the washing up, cleaned the kitchen (to a certain extent), tidied downstairs, collected and sorted the stray dirty washing, repatriated all sorts of crap.

Now upstairs to sort out the explosion in the DCs' room, fold the shed load of clean washing in the spare room and hell knows what else. Bah.

Still need a shower but the house is airing nicely.

brightermornings · 10/04/2012 09:57

My plan of attack is dd's bedroom I didn't do an annual Xmas clear out last year. Blush
Dd 10 is helping.
I'm on top of washing bathroom needs a clean and stairs and landing need a Hoover.
I will be shutting my bedroom door although I'm not back at work till Thursday.

HettyKett · 10/04/2012 11:14

How you all getting on? Envy @ DC old enough to actually be of help, mine are 2 and 4.

Anyway. It turns out 'a shed load of clean washing' = five laundry baskets full. What was I thinking letting so much build up? How ddi it happen? Anyway all folded now. Most still needs putting away .

But, yes got upstairs and downstairs sorted and tidy, second load of washing on, house thoroughly aired and bins emptied.

Still got a load of crap toys MIL dumped here on Sunday kindly gave us to home and all the hoovering and cleaning to do.

Now coffee and a shower before I collect DS. Maybe he'll sleep this afternoon Hmm

georgesmummy11 · 10/04/2012 11:58

Right second load of washing nearly done. DS just having dinner will be going of or his 2 half hour nap soon so can get all the ironing done and watch some sky+ programmes
The living rooms done and the kitchen.
Need to mop the floors
Clean bedroom
Need to do stairs and landing they will have to wait till sleeping beauty has been asleep.

HateBeingCantDoUpMyJeans · 10/04/2012 12:15

Ok so both bathed and ds back to sleep. All the washing hung out, dd and I fed. I'm still hungry though Sad have tidied is tge living room. Btw does bathing the dc count as waning tge bath? Grin

2kidsintow · 10/04/2012 21:54

I got my windows opened and aired the place. It was nice here today. It was a shame to stay in, but DD2 had her friend around and it was good to get jobs done.

I blitzed the kitchen sides, emptied and reloaded the dishwasher, sorted out the recycling, wiped down the cooker top and front, cleared the cupboards, fruit bowl and fridge of anything past its best and wiped down the shelves.

I hoovered through upstairs and down and did the stairs. I hoovered the curtains in my room too.

I stripped my bed and did 2 loads of laundry (forgot to hang them out though- hope it is nice tomorrow too!) I shall do the kids beds tomorrow.

I damp-cloth dusted my bedroom surfaces (inc the top of the picture rails and the door) and polished the bannisters.

I've got tons to do here as well. Having been ill over easter and 2 of my dd's then nothing has got done and my house is very bad indeed.

Whether I'll actually start anything tomorrow all depends on whether dd3 decides to have a good night for a change and I actually get some sleep.

I truly do not know where to start. The WHOLE house is trashed.

2kidsintow · 11/04/2012 00:17

So was mine, sheep. As I walked downstairs today to take a cup to the kitchen, every room I walked through was embarrassing. It was nice to do very little, but daunting to know where to start.

I started at the kitchen sink, then did the rest of the kitchen and just gave myself a certain amount of time in each room at a time, doing what I could, then moving on to somewhere else before I got too bogged down or gave up. After each room (about 15 mins) I spent a bit of time with my DD2 and then started a different room for another 15 mins.

I know that I haven't got every room sorted as it should be, but the difference I was able to make in 15 mins in each room was good to see.

I just need to do the same again tomorrow to further improve the state of each room now!
