My dh has washed the cyclone part (as well as other parts that I know are washable)after "cleaning up" post DIY. Has anybody washed the cyclone bit & it worked afterwards??

oh dear. i think it might be toast. THe cyclone part is the motor isnt it? perhaps you could find it a sunny spot and leave it to dry for a couple of days then test it on a suitably circuit broken power board.

I did that. You have to use a 'flower shape' screwdriver to open it up and leave it to dry for a few days then its fine.

yes. i've done it a few times. vacuum cleaners tend to get a bit whiffy if you have a dog!

i did the same as leeloo and used a flower shaped screwdriver and took the whole cyclone apart, gave it a thorough wash and left it all to dry for a few days.

my upright dyson dc14 is around 6 years old and is in perfect condition. the motor is not in the cyclone - it is in the base of the machine.

dyson obviously tell you not to take the cyclone apart or get anything other than the drum and filters wet but i've had no issues. just ensure it is completely dry before putting it back together.
