If you have one of those dinky toddler beds from IKEA....

....what size bedding do you buy for it? Is it cotbed sized? Can you get fitted sheets for them? I don't want to get one if I have to get all new everything, and am considering going straight to a big single with bed guard... any thoughts would be appreciated!

Thanks!

We had one for DS2 because his room is v.small - he loved the freedom of it after being in a cot. It was just the right height off the floor for him to climb in and out of, as well as not being too high if he accidentally rolled off it! For bedding I just used a normal sized single bed bottom sheet folded in half and initially his baby duvet which was just big enough. As he got bigger though I went to a full size single duvet which you will need anyway when he goes to a larger bed. He used it until he was about 7 but when his toes started hanging off the edge we gave it away to friends to make room for a single bed. I think with hindsight it would have saved us a bit of money and hassle if he'd just gone straight to a normal single bed, with a safety barrier, like his brother had. We were just taken in by the "cuteness" and relatively low price of the IKEA toddler bed! Smile

Both of mine have Ikea toddler beds. DD (4yrs) has a single size duvet and DS (19m) has his cot duvet. The bottom sheets are from Ikea, so are the sames

Oops!

Same size as the beds.

Word of warning..... Check you have a base with the bed as a lot of the beds don't come with one (still cross about finding that out once we got home!)

We've got an ikea toddler bed, if you've got space I'd just go for a normal single size bed, we haven't got the space at the moment.

Fitted sheets I bought at ikea, then DD uses a normal single size duvet, it's only a little bit too big, the ikea toddler beds are bigger than other toddler beds so normal fitted toddler sheets won't fit.

As is standard in Ikea, the bases do come packed seperately to the bed frame, so dedalus is right make sure you pick all the bits up if you go for one.

I used cotbed sheets

Thanks all! We're trying to predict what we'll need in a couple of years, so a titchy one seems sensible as it'd fit anywhere.

Good to know a single duvet works, thanks for your responses!

we also use a single duvet. fitted sheets and nice colourfull cotton bedding is also sold at IKEA.

Ikea do great beds which grow with your kids as they get bigger. We got metal framed ones for both both our girls. You buy the matress which comes with two extra bits to fit in as and when you need them. The metal one is great as it has swirly sides so does away with the need for a bed guard.

Although the beds are small we just use normal single duvets with them. You get the sheets to fit at ikea or you can just use flat normal single sheets and tuck them in a lot.

I will say double and triple check which bits you need as the beds seem a bit narrower than normal, so if you buy the wrong slats you'll have to go back to change them.

We have John Lewis toddler bed with side guards. We use fitted cotbed sheet and mattress protector but could easily have used single sheet. We use single duvet (tucked in) and normal (single) sized pillow and case.
