Privacy for windows in downstairs bathrooms

Honu · 19/03/2012 09:52

We are having an extension built which will incorporate a downstairs wetroom and a downstairs loo. The loo is right by the back door, the wetroom slightly less public. I'm not a big fan of frosted glass but if I opt for plain glass how do we achieve privacy. All I can think of is net curtains - any better ideas?

Go for the frosted glass and have a roller blind as best option
If you insist on plain glass do this and have a roller blind that has 'black out'
properties.
Our downstairs bathroom jusy has frosted glass as we are not overlooked at the rear.

Try this website www.brume.co.uk - you could add the covering to normal windows, whilst still allowing openers.

A friend of mine lives on a busy road and her windows go straight onto the pavement iykwim.

She has permanent slatted shutters on them so the light still comes in but you would have to go out of your way to look in.

I got some window films from Brume after reading about them on here, is this site sponsored by them? (very good results btw! Highly recommend them! :))

roller blind is good, but you can also have cafe curtains in a pale colour. Depending on eye level of people outside they may then be unable to look in and see anything but the ceiling, while you will get sunlight coming in over them.

people can still see quite good body detail through frosted glass if you are close to it.

Check out the Emma jeffs website. She does very cool window designs that stick on to the glass. I bought a roll in her sale and it looks fab.

You can't see any body detail through the Brume film - it goes very opaque. It's very good but you could have it only up to eye line level / or just bottom pane of window so you still get some real view of outside sky IYKWIM
