Mouldy wooden chopping board

Hello, I'm new around these parts and need some advice, please.

My chopping board seems to have mould in the grain, I've fair worn my elbow joint down scrubbing and it hasn't budged. Does anyone know how I can get rid of it without using ghastly chemicals, or do I need a new one?

Can you not soak it in some hot water and washing powder?

Thanks, I'll try that

what colour is this mould?

I'm surprised that it won't come off when scrubbed. Are you using a stiff nylon brush?

Wood is better not soaked since this will saturate it, causing swelling, warping and cracking, as well as encouraging rot (look at an old fence post)

Thanks for all your replies, haven't soaked it yet as recovering from a bout of some kind of virus so whilst the mind is willing, the body's refusing to help!

I also thought it must be a stain, but it's grown. I'm abroad, so they're not as cheap, but I'll splash out.

Thanks everyone
