Have a Dyson DC24 and it has all gone a bit meh.

I have cleaned all filters and the brush. May even get two - a small one for the stairs would be great.

Any recommendations please?

ponders posted this last night

My dyson is also on its last legs, so watching with interest.

Thanks for the link.
Blush I went through 3 pages to check I wasn't duplicating a thread. Ours isn't that old and the older version was much better imho.

Not keen on bags. Are Miele better than Dyson?

Miele cat and dog will suck the pattern off your carpet.

dippedinhoney now that's what I'm talking about.

Miele vacs score very high in the Which tests. Both cylinder and upright. If you can't remember model numbers, the brand is a good guide. Dysons did not score as high.

Eggrules · 04/03/2012 08:21

Thanks PigletJohn I'll start looking.

OH wants to get Dyson serviced Hmm. Just not enough power.

Another vote for miele cats and dogs. We have a fluffy grey tabby who spends most days indoors. Now our light coloured carpet is no longer grey.

TerrorNova Amazon reviews agree with you. Need to investigate price comparisons and wait for a sale...

There is one Miele which sucks so hard on high it has stretched people's carpets...

Ponders · 04/03/2012 18:13

you need to look at Miele features carefully

they have different sized bags
they don't all have a telescopic tube
the smaller ones don't have onboard tool storage, so they sit in a clip-on carrier instead & it drops off if bumped, apparently
OTOH the smaller ones are lighter

I was tempted by the \link{http://www.redhillappliances.co.uk/Products.aspx?productid=21111&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Vacuum%20Cleaners\ecoline} (despite the hideous colour) - it scored v high in Which, it uses the bigger bags, & has onboard storage too I think, & is low power & quiet but suction matches the higher ones

£149 is v good, it's £199 at JL

onboard tool storage is very handy, with a metal telecoping tube. Ours is rather big and heavy (quite old but lasting well). There's an AEG Vampyr in the garage for vaccing the cars, similar, bit lighter, but a wheel came off.
