Bosch/Neff/Siemens are all the same company and very good price/quality ratio according to a friend who designs kitchens.

Miele is also very good but a bit more pricey.

MollieO · 25/02/2012 18:40

No. Miele are the best and are built for longevity, eg a dishwasher is expected to last 20 years.

NickettyNacketty · 25/02/2012 18:43

Miele are not only expensive but having had the use of a Miele dishwasher and washing machine in the house we are renting I would not choose to buy the brand. True these particular ones may be quite old but I don't find them particularly good.
My gut says Bosch. Actually it's saying where's my dinner.

Bosch/Siemens used to be good but my latest purchases from them have been a bit shit to be honest. I would buy Miele next time. Apparently the Bosch etc stuff is now made in a couple of locations and the stuff made in the older factories is a lot more reliable.

I've got Bosch washing machine and dishwasher, very good, no problems.

NickettyNacketty · 25/02/2012 18:55

skiing what problems have you had?

The old Bosch dishwasher was excellent, the new one blocks up at the slightest thing, doesn't dry very well at all, even on the enhanced drying setting, doesn't get baked on stuff off (the old one did) and in general is a bit dissapointing. My Neff oven bakes unevenly, has useless rack spacing and the racks bend when I put a casserole in and my Siemens fridge has very few adjustable settings for the shelves and door bits and just isn't very well designed. It also freezes at the back and is only just cold enough near the front.

I had an old Bosch washing machine. Moved house and there was a washing machine plumbed in, so I just left my Bosch in the garage. Said washer was bought second hand for 60 quid. The garage leaked and washer got soaked. Just left it as thought oh well that will be the end of that. Last winter in all the snow the washer all froze up. Then my mams washer broke, so she asked if she could have mine. My dad somehow 'defrosted' it and it worked perfectly, and still does to this day!
Bloke who came to fix me mams washer said he could count on one hand how many times he had been called out to mend a Bosch.

So yeah I would recommend :)

I think Bosch used to be good, but now their machines and Siemens are made in Turkey or Eastern Europe and not such good quality. Miele I think are excellent.

NickettyNacketty · 29/02/2012 19:23

I bit the bullet and ordered Bosch for the fridge freezer and dishwasher. The washing machine is John Lewis as it was slightly cheaper.

I have a Bosch washing machine. It is a fairly basic one - it only cost me £200 6 years ago. I did not bother paying for the extended warranty.

I have not had any problem with it, so yes, I would buy Bosch again. However, there have been a few reports of people saying that more recently, the quality may have suffered so it might be worth exploring all the options. Miele consistently get good reports.
