Mine is literally black. God knows why as I use a dosing ball, could this be the prob? Anyway, I can remove the drawer but find it difficult to clean the internal shelf, as there's loads of ridges etc. Normally resort to a toothbrush and hot water, but is there any other wonder product or method I could try? Ta everso.

Toothbrush,cloth and water here too.

I hazard a guess that its just one of those shitty awkward jobs with no shortcuts, but I'm watching with interest in case I'm wrong...

dishwasher

Pull it out and scrub it properly. I've got a Siemens one and I have to kind of lift and yank it a bit but it does come out and go back in without breaking.

I bung mine in the dishwasher :o)

Excellent ta v much, will bung drawer in dw. How about the empty compartment (the bit the drawer goes into), any tips for that? It is black too and a real struggle to clean.

Plumber said that it is because we use non bio liquid at low temperatures. Hence black mould forms. He recommends running machine with a bit of bio powder or liquid or washing machine cleaner at highest temp possible once a month. To get it clean a solution of vinegar and water should work.

I occasionally squirt some Dettol Mould and Mildew Remover on that bit and give it a scrub with a scouring pad to get the claggy bits off.

Also pull the drawer out between washes to allow the 'ceiling' of the drawer (where the water comes down from) to dry out.

White vinegar every time. Buy a big plastic bin of it (makros £3.00) and just add a capful to every wash including your dishwasher. The stuff they sell is only white vinegar with thickening agents.
