Cough cough - stinky house...

This is my first foray over here but I could do with some advice, my DM was looking after DD today whilst I was at work and managed to burn a pan of onions on the hob, burnt so badly the pan has been binned. To be fair my DD is very full of energy and can wear anyone out after a few hours, could happen to anyone.

But - the house STINKS. Burnt horrible burny smell. It is only a shoebox too so no escape from the burnt acrid stink. I've had the windows open since five, sprayed air freshner, lit scented candles, had front and back doors open to try and waft it out but to no avail.

So - my question is, what can I do to get rid of the pong?

TIA

Cut a fresh onion in half and put one in each room, they absorb smells and replaces them with an oniony smell.

Should sort it out in 24 hours.

You might want to wash any coats etc that were hanging near by before you wear them again Smile

Wash any soft furnishings you can (curtains etc)

Respray anything that can't be washed

Wash the walls and ceiling in the kitchen, the smoke will have clung and still stink for a while

It does take a few days to completely dissipate though

Sounds like a plan, will give it a go, thanks!

don't need to chuck your pan - scrape off the worst bits and leave to soak overnight in hot water with a scoop of washing powder in (any one). (I would leave to soak in garden tho)

To get rid of the smell, could try lighting some ordinary candles for a bit?
I usually just open all doors and windows and get a good airing when I have stinky house and it clears so sorry can't be of any more help!

Incense stink should help get rid of the smell

Open all the windows then light candles in every room.
