Tall narrow shoe storage

I have a small porch where I need to store shoes for a family of 5. The front door opens into the porch and opens into the pile of shoes on the floor . It looks a mess Sad.

I want a shoe cabinet that isn't more than 40 or so cm wide. It can't be more than 2-2.5Ft high as I have an alarm
Box that prevents it being higher. It cant be more than 40-50 cm deep. Ahhhhhhh!

I dont care about colour etc as long as the size is right .

Any suggestions. ? I have no where else to store shoes. There is also no room in hallway . I have 3 dds under 5 so I need easy access to shoes on way out .

I have been thinking of getting a wicket basket and flinging all the shoes in there but that is a last resort.

Could you get some shelves put in that you could put shoes onto?

It might be worth getting a carpenter to make you what you need out of mdf. Cubby holes are a good way to store shoes though not sure kids are good at putting shoes away neatly.

I use two wicker baskets for my DSs shoes/slippers, one each, and DH and I put our shoes on a rack, I find that easier to keep tidy than other things I have tried.

I would prefer a cabinet so I can hide them away but I think I am searching for the impossible Sad

Try Ikea...they have some which actually hide the shoes

Would it work to hang something off the back of the front door, or do you not have enough opening space?

Something like

this

BonfireOfKleenex · 21/02/2012 14:29

Though I guess it would have to be a shorter one so it didn't overlap the letter box Grin

BonfireOfKleenex · 21/02/2012 14:46

Or would something like this fit down the side of the alarm box?

We have our shoes (well, some of them) in exactly the same place, and bought 2 pine shoe strorage units from Argos. You have to build them yourself, but they fit our porch nicely, and I have even considered getting another one, and dividing it in half, to use the currently wasted space above them.

Thanks for the replies. I asked my dh about a custom made shelf for shoes but he said no cos he's a meanie Angry. Will look into the other suggestions.
