Is anyone drying outside yet?

Hi everyone. I was wondering if anyone has started hanging washing out yet this year? Can't be arsed to hang it out if it's still going to be damp coming back off line! I have an inside airer but love drying outside.

yep.

two loads yesterday. not bone dry , but well on the way.

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 20/02/2012 11:39

Yup, have towels out today, is very windy.

Thetokengirl · 20/02/2012 11:39

Yes, first loads of the year yesterday. Sheets and duvet covers, completely dry after several hours and smelt lovely once back on the bed last night Smile

kaytola · 20/02/2012 11:41

Yes! Got 5 loads dried on the line yesterday. It was glorious. Just got to put it all away now (which I HATE).

Olbasoil · 20/02/2012 11:57

Oh yes , nappies, towels and sheets blowing happily !

FreakoidOrganisoid · 20/02/2012 12:03

I never stop really, providing it's dry enough. Obviously I haven't hung many loads out over the winter as it has been too wet/cold but have still done a few. Yesterdays loads were the first to get completely dry out there though, the others have needed 15 mins or so on the radiator to finish off (but that makes the house smell lovely so I don't mind!).

Wretched · 20/02/2012 12:17

Well, I will have to dust off my pegs then :)

My friend has been since that mild spell in January. End of March at the very earliest for me, unless some of you persuade me otherwise!

usualsuspect · 21/02/2012 17:13

yep , got loads dry outside over the weekend

shockers · 21/02/2012 17:22

Yes... love it!

nannipigg · 21/02/2012 17:24

yeah, I've been drying outside since Sunday here....it doesn't get it bone dry but I just stick it in the airing cupboard overnight and that dries it!

CremeEggThief · 21/02/2012 17:47

I think the reason I am so reluctant to line dry unless I know it will get bone dry, is I don't have an airing cupboard. It seems twice the work to hang out and then have to put it on radiators, indoor airer and dryer anyway.

oreocrumbs · 21/02/2012 18:52

I put my first load out today, heavy things like sweatshirts and DPs work trousers and they were all dry in a couple of hours Smile

ohbugrit · 21/02/2012 18:55

My first lot went out today and I'm completely giddy now. I get alarming happy when I can dry washing outdoors. I am quite sad.

springaroundthecorner · 21/02/2012 19:01

I love that ohbugrit , "alarmingly happy" Grin

I came home this very lunchtime and thought that I would be able to hang out washing very soon. My garden is north facing so pointless to try hanging out in the winter.

Note to self - wipe the green stuff off the washing line in preparation and find the pegs!

debka · 21/02/2012 19:02

Sheets out and dried yesterday, towels today, but they were still a little damp when I brought them in. Smells so good though when they're line dried. Plus I can get 2 loads done in a day, one outside, one in.

droves · 21/02/2012 19:09

Want to but can't.

I put the rotary dryer down during hurricane Bawbag so it wouldnt break.

I can't get it up

Think I've broke it ? .

Indith · 21/02/2012 19:12

I've put mine out a few times.

Catsmamma · 21/02/2012 19:14

I had a small load out in the back yard today, the t shirts were almost dry, the jeans not so much.

it's on the indoor airer now.

Petrean · 22/02/2012 08:14

Ooohhh it hadn't even occurred to me yet but as it's laundry today I might just put it outside.

Sparklingbrook · 22/02/2012 08:19

I have just put the line up but it looks like it's going to pee it down. Sad I get stupidly excited at being able to dry outside again.

Catsmamma · 22/02/2012 08:22

no such luck today....wind is howling, rain is falling, sky is dark and the sea is in a frenzy

it'd be wetter than from the machine if I pegged stuff out today.

TheOneWithTheHair · 22/02/2012 08:24

Nope. While the rest of the country is worried about drought, here in Manchester it's still bloody raining! :)

CroissantNeuf · 22/02/2012 08:29

ohbugrit: "I get alarming happy when I can dry washing outdoors. I am quite sad".

I've just bought <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=kitchen+maid&num=10&hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=fzn&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&biw=1280&bih=681&tbm=isch&tbnid=aXI5px5AGexWeM:&imgrefurl=www.mygreenerhome.co.uk/laundry-aids-21/six-lath-supreme-kitchen-maid-clothes-airer-274.html&docid=Ud0OpKn9zbA6NM&imgurl=www.mygreenerhome.co.uk/images/medium/modcisa1256new_MED.jpg&w=300&h=255&ei=A6dET5_2A8e-8gPbodXDBA&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=638&sig=101550591055988307933&sqi=2&page=1&tbnh=128&tbnw=151&start=0&ndsp=19&ved=0CHsQrQMwDg&tx=74&ty=87" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">one of these for the utility room. It has made me very, very happy indeed. I absolutely love it! I am, therefore, also very sad Grin

Elliptic5 · 22/02/2012 14:01

I always hang my washing out, often cold weather is quite drying, if it's wet I try to wait to do the washing. Anything damp is then put on airer and usually dries overnight.
