LeCrueset (Grill & Pots)

I was given a lovely LeCrueset Grill and a set of pots for Christmas and after admiring them for the last few weeks I want to jump in and use them. Do I need to do any sort of "conditioning" or anything before the first use/s?

(I am stupidly excited about my new kitchen toys and want to make sure I treat them with love and care.)

no

but once the interior loses its gloss, perhaps after 20 years or so, it helps to give it a polish with cooking oil on a bit of kitchen roll after each washing (don't clean it off again, just polish it off). It reduces sticking. This also works on non-stick pans once they wear, especially if they have been in a dishwasher.

Avoid using metal implements or stirrers. A nylon brush, or if necessary a green nylon scourer for burnt-on deposis, will be kinder to the enamel.

Can't remember, did you have instructions with them? Their customer services are very helpful if nit.

I love Le Creuset... We had a set of pans as a wedding present 24 years ago, still in superb condition.

I don't think you have to do anything to the enamel inside of saucepans, but I do "feed" my frying pan oil after washing it by rubbing a little oilve oil into it and wiping it off with kitchen roll. I am not sure if you are supposed to do this or it's just one of my weird ways.

I do use plastic or wooden spoons when cooking, never metal as it damages them.

You are right to be excited about them, I love mine

I love mine but please take care of them. The enamel based casserole style pans and pie/lasagne dishes we have are great and still look near perfect after nearly 10 years but the frying pans don't seem to fare so well. The wooden handle on one is gonna fall off eventually and the polyplastic handle on the other one drips water when on the stove (I have no idea why). The inside bases have become roughened too. Still not enough to make me chuck them I would with any other brand but it feels wrong with LeCreuset. :o

I seasoned my wok before using it but nothing else.

They don't go in the dishwasher, only washed by hand which is easy as food just slides off and there's no metal used on them hear that Dp? I bough silicone utensils especially for my Le Creuset.

Handwash everything, that's it. If you have one of theose plain black cast iron ridged grill pans you want to avoid using detergent on it, and season with oil after each use.
