this should be perfect for what you need. It's only on offer until 29th Feb though.

I've never really understood food processors either, so will watch with interest.

Mumatron - would one of those be any good for making soup and smoothies, or would you need a separate blender?

Mine is a bit like this Kenwood one

but tbh I only really use the blender jug thing. I tried to use the food processing bit a few times - it was fine for chopping onions but rubbish for dough making, it seemed to completely stress it out and burning plastic smells started coming out of it. The mixing attachments are not at all sturdy.

bobbin that one comes with the blender attachment but not the food processor. I don't have that one but it does have some good reviews.

I'm hoping that someone buys me the 900watt version for my birthday.

I only have a food processor and use it to make all my cake batters and pastry. It is a Magimix and it really is just matter of putting it all in the bowl and switching on. I use it to chop, and grate as well. However, it is an old model and not quite powerful enough to mix bread dough I find so I do that by hand or use my breadmaker.

To be fair I also have a hand blender to do smal amounts of liquidising and it has a whisk attachment for doing cream.

... although I would not turn my nose up at that Prospero too. Grin

I realise this is too late but in case anybody is after recommendations. This food processor in the Aldi Special Buys seems very good value.
