Being an Ecover tester I should know this... Something to do with enzymes??

poorbuthappy · 11/02/2012 00:25

Bollocks that's wrong...Confused I think.

qo · 11/02/2012 00:25

hope this helps

Bio gets things clean.
Non-bio doesn't.

Tinsie · 11/02/2012 01:16

What chipmonkey said.

Auntiestablishment · 11/02/2012 04:07

Bio eats holes in your clothes.
Non-bio doesn't.

HauntedLittleLunatic · 11/02/2012 04:16

Bio contains enzymes which help break down food and organic dirt. Best used at 30-40C. Enzymes are killed much above that.

Non bio contains no enzymes. More effective at higher temps.

If you have eczema (like me), things washed in bio powder do terrible things to your skin - regardless of what the washed things are - clothes, sheets, anything washed in bio just slays me.

Does get stuff cleaner though!

chipmonkey · 11/02/2012 11:20

So clean irritatable clothes with holes.
Or dirty non-irritable intact clothes.
Take your pick!

PigletJohn · 11/02/2012 11:25

Non-bio Persil does get things clean. But although it makes whites very, it also causes colour-fading.

Some powders are better than others. Looking at the Which tests, Persil is the only non-bio in the best buys. I suppose it is easier or cheaper to make a bio powder than a non-bio.

thisisyesterday · 11/02/2012 11:27

i use sainsburys own-brand non-bio and it gets our clothes clean.

anything that might stain gets some ecover stain remover put on before washing....

oreocrumbs · 11/02/2012 15:22

I think - bit I'm not certain that bio uses the enzymes to 'eat' through the dirt, and non bio uses bleaches to clean.

Then there are all the other points above!!

eaglewings · 11/02/2012 15:26

Just buy back socks not white!
Dd can only wear clothes washed in non bio. Simply are fantastic

Becaroooo · 11/02/2012 16:59

Bio has enzymes in that - basically - eat dirt.

They also, sadly, eat the fabric and fade the colour.

I have used non bio for years and have only had a handful of clothes that UI couldnt get clean (mostly baby clothes)

I use Co Op own brand non bio gel, sensitive softner and have no problems. (I have also used Fairy non bio gel and the Aldi own brand too and both are fine)

If clothes are very stained/dirty I use a stain remover on them before washing/pre wash.
