Please don't judge. Eek. Namechange, long time poster, etc.

The kids have threadworms (urgh) and, if I'm honest, the house really needs a really, really good clean. It's cluttered and dusty and we've been here a year and I'm sure there are bits that have never properly been cleaned (hence the namechange) I think we've got into lazy habits too, eg beds going weeks without being changed. I want a clean house, but it just seems overwhelming, but do not suggest fly lady as I actually want to make a huge amount of progress today. I also tend to do best with tasks (and so does DP) if we kind of "go at it" and do loads at once.

I've been seriously ill lately, and DP very busy, but that's not really a good enough excuse with kids in the house.

We have two under five, DS1 has very mild asthma (only needs an inhaler every now and again) and they both have a touch of eczema, but nothing alarming. They both are at various stages of toilet training.

I work from home so, while I don't have loads of time, I can do things like leaving stuff to soak etc easily. The youngest goes to nursery three days a week and the oldest five. DP also only works part time, but he does shifts so it can often happen that the time he is working is also when the kids are at home and vis versa.

We are also very very skint.

OK. SO.

I've wiped down (with bleach) the kids room floor, walls, door and windowsill, changed all the bedding, febreezed the mattresses and put the teddies in on a delicate wash (they are now drying on the radiator)

I've also changed our bed, and everything white from the beds, as well as the spare duvet that was a bit minging, have all gone into the bath with hot water and bleach. The rest of the bedding is in the washing machine at 60 degrees.

I've bleached and scrubbed the upstairs toilet and sink.

Difficult spots are gong to be the kids toys, the bookshelves and the clutter, although everywhere needs a good scrub really. I kind of want to just get a hose in here and hose the lot down with bleach.

Please, tips, tricks, scedueles, etc all very welcome. Please! :)

Hello!

Right my house is shit tip lived in so I know what you mean about clutter etc. I just wanted to reply as I've just done a sort out of some of DD's toys today too and chucked our broken bits, about to store ones that are nice but she's grown out of for any future dc. Now she's woken from her nap (I hear her bellowing as I type) I'm going to store some of her too small clothes whilst she plays in her bedroom whilst I'm in there iyswim, so I don't have to do it all when she's asleep. I've got some of those vacuum bags.

I'd say main rooms to give a good go are kitchen & bathrooms which you've done, then kids bedrooms. I am totally one for flinging bleach around everywhere but just be really careful with your DC's asthma etc. Go get some method cleaning products- all smell nice & no nasties then you don't feel bad about using them around DC's so cleaning sink/ tiles whilst they are in the bath.

Do hot washes in bio powder for all linen etc given ur worm situation. Hope that helps a bit- ill be back later to see how ur doing Grin

I'm also deep cleaning and faffing at the mo, I find it important to start with and keep on top of the kitchen first and foremost, then the rest follows much easier.

I have my list on a thread somewhere in good housekeeping topic, shouldn't be too far from the top.
