Red wine stain on carpet

Says it all really. A cream carpet at that. I have blotted it with a damp cloth and then used some carpet cleaner. It is still wet so can't tell how bad it is. Can anyone suggest something that works to remove the stain please?

I don't think my first aid will really work and am gutted if I have ruined a perfectly decent carpet.

Help!

The only thing that ever works for me is white wine.

You should be OK with prompt application of carpet cleaner.

If not, do you have Contents Insurance?

Do you have any vanish? I spray it on everything as soon as I have a spill and so far it has always worked.

White wine! Quickly! It really really works, just slosh it on there

Soak up and then salt left until all soaked up. Worked on our carpet when BIL got a whole glass of red wine on it. Worked too well actually, we now have a relly clean patch on our ancient, filthy, stained carpet. I've done the whole thing with a Vax since but that patch is still the cleanest!

Thanks. Sorry for delay in coming back. used vanish in the end as that is all I had. Looks OK............not great but better.

Have just seen my niece’s husband (German) remove a fresh red wine stain from a cream carpet, almost instantly - amazing! First he blotted it with kitchen paper to remove the worst, then he sprayed it with hairspray, yes hairspray! He sprayed liberally until the stain had faded then rubbed again with kitchen paper. After that he rubbed with a cloth wrung out in warm water, followed by a final rub with a clean, dry cloth. Amazing, stain gone. It’s actually the second time I’ve seen him perform this trick (yes, we drink quite a bit when visiting my niece!) and it worked brilliantly both times. Try it, let us know if it works for you.
